We are seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer to join our team in Gatineau/Ottawa region. Someone who can tackle all kinds of I.T. related tasks, with great skills in routing & switching and with many kinds of routers and firewalls. Your role would be to assist our clients in their IT needs.
Work can vary from end-user support to Network Planning and Design. Hence, a broad skill set is required for this role.
Certifications:
Experience with different brands of Switches, Routers, Wireless APs and Firewalls.
VoIP, Asterisk, Avaya, NEC and/ or Cisco.
Experience with Backup software and hardware.
A+, Network+, CWNA
VMware and Hyper-V
Other vendor certs.
Other Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance on-site and/ or remotely to clients with computer hardware and software issues.
Monitor the performance of the servers, computer systems, networking equipment and address issues as they arise
Address user support requests regarding hardware, software and networking and record technical solutions in our database system.
Follow up with clients to ensure their systems are functional
Manage tasks, projects, and assignments on time.
Assist in creating technical documentation and procedures.
Reliable transportation is required. Client visits are periodically necessary to fulfil technician duties (mileage is compensated for travel to and from client visits). Company vehicle is also available.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical support, network administering, end-user support, IT analyst and/ or consultant.
Proven work experience as a Desktop or Network Support Technician or similar role.
Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
Office 365 support and troubleshooting.
Supporting an Active-Directory integrated environment.
Ability to ask targeted questions to diagnose symptoms and determine the root cause of equipment failure (network, software, hardware, electrical issue, etc.)
Hands-on experience with Windows 10 and Windows Server (Mac experience is a bonus).
Knowledge of network architecture, network operations, remote configuration, remote service/installation support.
Ability to read, comprehend, and execute documented processes/guide documents relative to projects and/or services, and deliver assignments comprehensively and accurately.
Positive and professional demeanor with a customer-oriented attitude.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Expertise in Microsoft and Networking technologies.
Must have a thorough knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (Client and Server).
Excellent troubleshooting skills - using command-line tools, Internet resources and personal knowledge/experience.
Excellent research skills.
Able to understand the needs of a business when it comes to IT.
Familiarity with local vendors and ISP is a plus.
