Great workshop opportunity from safeword.arts!!

CALLING ALL THEATRE MAKERS! Wonderful workshop opportunity from safeword.arts: https://www.safeword.ca/headheartgut

Head, Heart, Gut: The Foundations of Trauma-Informed Practice is facilitated by Registered Psychotherapist Ronnie Ali (they/them) and happening on July 14th and July 21st, 2021 (9 DAYS AWAY!)

What is this about?
This course was designed to be restorative and generative; Restorative, in the sense that we will be facilitating activities that help build on folks' existing practices, which they can then adapt and use in their own life and work; and Generative, meaning that participants will be left with new ways of viewing themself, others, the world, and their role in the new "precedent setting" era of post-lockdown resurgence.

Ronnie will be sharing insights from their work as a Registered Psychotherapist working with queer/trans, BIPOC, and similarly marginalized folks, specifically focused on reducing harm and violence against these communities. They will show participants how to take equity work beyond 'listening and learning' and toward an embodied, ethical process. Reconnect with your body, heal while you learn, and ready yourself to enter collective spaces with humility, confidence, and mindfulness.

Who is this for?
This course will be relevant for anyone working within teams or groups, especially in a leadership or facilitation role. We've already sold tickets to therapists, facilitators, educators, artists, arts workers, and the general population! The content will be presented at an accessible level, without psycho-babble or complex language that tends to alienate everyone from their subjective embodied experience.

What is the time commitment?
The course offers 4 hours of online guided facilitation over 2 seminar days (2 hours each seminar). For these seminars, there is no obligation to share video/audio with the cohort, nor will there be any breakout rooms. All interaction with other participants and the facilitators will occur between the session dates: asynchronously on the Google Classroom, and with a 1 hour Live Q&A session (date TBD).

What is the cost?
We have different options for joining:

1. General Admission: $150 flat rate (for 5 hours of face time with Ronnie, and additional text-based communication)

2. Group Rates: $135/each for groups of 5 or more (10% discount) or $120/each for groups of 10 or more (20% discount). Perfect for teams and organizations.

3. Generosity Admission & Waiting list: We have a waiting list for folks who cannot afford the fee, priority will be given to 2SQTBIPOC folks. If you are able to afford an extra ticket for someone on our waiting list, there is an option at our checkout to donate your generous contribution there.

What are the risks and benefits?
This course is meant to be an experiential embodiment-focused journey. We will be asking you to observe your bodily sensations in a non-judgmental manner. The main risk of this work is that you may notice unpleasant or uncomfortable sensations. If this happens, it might be a good idea to stop and take a moment away from the content, or ask the facilitator for support. The benefit of doing this work is that you will be better suited to handle your deeply rooted, embodied reactions to making mistakes and witnessing, perpetuating or experiencing harm and justice. The sessions are meant to be restorative and generative, not painful and disturbing. We encourage folks to use the "Challenge by Choice" framework: choose the level of challenge that you feel is the right fit for you.

A reminder of the upcoming ADC/IATSE Canada Town Hall. John Lewis, a Vice-President of IATSE and Director of Canadian Affairs, has generously agreed to be our guest at the next Town Hall, to answer questions about what a formal affiliation between the ADC and IATSE would mean.
We would strongly urge all members and interested designers to attend.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ADC is hosting regular Town Halls to update designers across the country, and solicit feedback. You can register here for the events.
