The International Council on Archives (ICA) is marking the eighth edition of International Archives Week, running from 8–12 June 2026, under the global theme : Rights, Memory & Futures.

A proud moment for Maltese and and Big News for !

The Caravaggio Wing at St John Co-Cathedral has just won an international award for the Best Use of Digital at the Museums + Heritage Awards in London — one of the most respected events in the museum world!

The experience lets visitors get up close with Caravaggio's legendary painting The Beheading like never before — through life-size projections, an interactive digital torch, and fascinating insights into the science behind his art.

It beat out incredible shortlisted projects from Qatar, Australia, Denmark, Spain, and the USA to claim the top prize. A truly global recognition for a gem right here in Malta.

This is what happens when heritage and technology meet with purpose. As AI specialist Dylan Seychell, part of the technical design team, put it: "We wanted to find the best way for guests to truly enjoy the experience of these paintings and learn the history surrounding them."
