Summary

The Material Handling Specialist shall be responsible for Overhead Crane and Gantry Crane lifts to move, position or place materials as well as moving materials using lift trucks, skid steer and shunt trucks. Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the conducting of routine maintenance work, and the cleaning and lubricating of material handling machinery. Determines safe lifting capacities. Operates crane with related attachments. Directs operational maintenance on assigned equipment. Safely loads and packs materials for safe short and long-haul transport.

Job Duties

• Determines safe lifting capacities.

• Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities
• Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating material handling machinery
• Move material trailers around work site using shunt truck
• Lift, move or position material on job site.

Requirements
• Completion of high school
• 3 years’ experience
• Exceptionally high level of Hand-Eye coordination.
• Currently working in the trade
• Knowledge of workplace safety policies and procedures
• Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Effective verbal and listening communications skills
• Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary for construction
• Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.

• Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Work Conditions
• Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Requires exceptionally high level of Hand-Eye coordination.
• Noise level is generally loud.
• Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
• Excellent stamina is required.

Job Summary

The Blaster will be responsible for preparing parts and assemblies by shot blasting & painting to stage for finishing product, meeting defined production standards, schedules, and quality requirements. To work with Blast, Paint systems and various tools for the completion of product to engineering specifications. Work on special projects as required to achieve company’s goal.

Duties

• Determines strength and pattern of blast required and charges and detonates explosives in surface or underground mine, pit, or quarry to fracture or separate stone or minerals from solid formations: Studies formation to determine amount, type, and location of explosive charge required.
• To work with Blast, Paint systems and various tools for the completion of product to engineering specifications.
• Inserts, packs, or pours explosives, such as dynamite, ammonium nitrate, black powder, or slurries into blast holes and compacts charge, using tamping rod.
• Support the Quality Assurance department with respect to Quality assurance evaluation of painted products.
• Positions assembled primer and blasting cap in hole at depth that will cause most effective explosion.
• Connects electric wire to primer and covers charge or fills blast hole with clay, drill chips, sand, or other material.
• Tamps material to secure charge and prevent force of blast from escaping through blast hole.
• Inspects blasting area to ensure that safety laws are observed and signals workers to clear area.
• Connects wires to electrical firing device and pushes plunger, turns dial, or presses buttons to set off single or multiple blasts.
• May compile record of blasts.
• May keep inventory of blasting agents on hand.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in an industrial production blasting and painting
• Minimum grade 12 or Equivalent.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Able to create alternative solutions to problems
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
Work Conditions
• 24/7 availability may be required
• Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
• Travel to the site, and off-site locations may be required
• Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots
• Overtime as required
• Hazards associated with the trade
• Work both indoors and outdoors
• Will be exposed to construction sites

Summary

The Industrial Painter is responsible for tending to and operating machines that spray/coat products with paint, and machines that bring a required finish to the product. Responsibilities will include: identifying potential safety hazards, selecting, or mixing the appropriate paint, and reading and interpreting blueprints. In the course of his/her duties, the Industrial Painter will inspect surfaces for contamination prior to coating and identify and employ methods that will reduce exposure to hazardous chemicals from the paint. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

We remember. Today at 3pm there will be a 2 minute moment of silence across the province to remember the victims of the Nova Scotia massacre. Remember to take a few moments to honour their lives and together we will work together to ensure that something like this will never happen again. Take care of each other, in the end love conquers all.

We had a lot of fun 🛍 for this cause amd filled three 🛒 full of toys and delivered them to the Q Toy Drive! Thanks so much to the and all of their partners for running this event and making sure that every child wakes up on morning with a 🎁 under the 🌲! All toys will go to Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank. They have 800 children on their list this year. If you want to help you can!
