Summary
The Material Handling Specialist shall be responsible for Overhead Crane and Gantry Crane lifts to move, position or place materials as well as moving materials using lift trucks, skid steer and shunt trucks. Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the conducting of routine maintenance work, and the cleaning and lubricating of material handling machinery. Determines safe lifting capacities. Operates crane with related attachments. Directs operational maintenance on assigned equipment. Safely loads and packs materials for safe short and long-haul transport.

Job Duties
• Determines safe lifting capacities.
• Operates Overhead Crane with related attachments.
• Directs operational maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities
• Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating material handling machinery
• Move material trailers around work site using shunt truck
• Lift, move or position material on job site.
• Perform routine maintenance work
• Clean and lubricate equipment
Requirements
• Completion of high school
• 3 years’ experience
• Exceptionally high level of Hand-Eye coordination.
• Currently working in the trade
• Knowledge of workplace safety policies and procedures
• Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Effective verbal and listening communications skills
• Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary for construction
• Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.

• Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Work Conditions
• Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Requires exceptionally high level of Hand-Eye coordination.
• Noise level is generally loud.
• Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
• Excellent stamina is required.
