It's great to hear all the positive news about the new things happening in Cornwall, I know the big shiny ventures are good for publicity, but I think it's important to recognize the large number of small businesses that live and thrive in our community. We may not have multi-million dollar expansions, but we still are a critical part of our city. I encourage other small business to blow their own horn a little, being an entrepreneur in 2025 is not for the weak!
Here is a little snapshot of our story and how we got to where we are:
In 1989, two visionary entrepreneurs, Tom Steynor and Ron Ruckstuhl, laid the foundation for what would become one of Cornwall’s most enduring and trusted technology businesses. From
humble beginnings in a basement office, their commitment to service and innovation quickly earned the company a loyal customer base across Cornwall and the United Counties.
In 2007, the torch was passed to senior employees Jeff Allaire and
Michael Galvin, who have continued to build on that legacy with a focus on adapting to the ever-changing landscape of Information Technology. Over the past 37 years, the industry has transformed dramatically—from floppy disks and dial-up internet to cloud computing, mobile-first solutions, and now artificial intelligence. Staying current has meant constant learning, reinvention, and investment in new technologies, all while maintaining the personal touch that only a local provider can offer.
Running a retail computer store in the age of e-commerce giants like Amazon and eBay has not been without its challenges. But what sets this company apart is its unwavering commitment to
the community. Customers know they don’t have to leave town for expert advice, reliable support, or quality service. Whether it's a small business in need of IT solutions or a family looking for help with their home setup, the company remains a trusted local partner.
Beyond technology, the company has always believed in giving back. From years of being a fixture at the Cornwall Motor Speedway to supporting youth sports and contributing to local charities like the United Way, Community Living, and Beyond21, community involvement is woven into the fabric of the business.
Perhaps the greatest asset over these 37 years has been the people—long-time employees whose dedication has built lasting relationships with customers, some of whom have been with
the company since day one. These relationships are a testament to the trust and respect earned over decades of service.
Looking ahead, the challenges are no less daunting. Cybersecurity threats continue to evolve, and the rise of AI presents both opportunities and ethical considerations. But with a strong
foundation, a loyal team, and a deep connection to the community,
the company is well positioned to meet the future head-on.
Here’s to 37 years of excellence—and many more to come.
