A newer scam out there. You receive an email requesting that you sign a document about settling a legal case. You may think you are getting money, but by viewing the PDF document, your system, email, and possibly banking information are exposed to these criminals. Please, don't fall for this scam.

Recently, I've been seeing an increase in phishing emails. In many cases, an email from an unknown person (usually with a Gmail return address) indicates that your receipt is attached or a thank-you for renewing an antivirus product. Be very careful, as most of these are trying to get you to open an attachment or to call a number for a refund. These are criminals trying to steal your money. If you are not sure, don't respond. Don't be a victim.

If you see this or a similar screen, it is not legitimate. It is a SCAM. Under no circumstances should you call the number on the screen, as you will quickly be connected to criminals and scammers who just want your money. If you have questions, call us. Don't be a victim.

Lately, I have seen several clients who have been a victim of fraud where they were asked to deposit money into Bitcoin. Some victims were told that this was to catch a bad person, and others were told it was for different reasons. These folks have lost anywhere from less than $10,000 up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM! If you have been a victim, report it to the police - they may not be able to do much but at least, report the crime. If you aren't sure if what you are doing is legitimate, call your bank, call your computer tech, call the police - get advice before the scammers take your hard-earned money!

Hackers have just released 10 billion login credentials from various sites (including Twitter - now known as "X") and quite a few more. It may be time to update your own passwords. Here is a link to the story.

Everyone with an account on LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), MySpace, MyFitnessPal, Canva, Badoo, and several other sites should change their passwords immediately. A new twist to the "you are infected" Microsoft or Apple scam where you are directed to call Microsoft or Apple at the number on your screen (which is fake). Now, they are asking for things like SIN # and/or a copy of your driver's license. Please, DO NOT fall for this! By doing this, you are giving these criminals the information they need to steal your identity. Please call us if you are unsure what to do when you see this scam pop up.

Buyer Beware! There are so many fake products out there. Always double-check and make sure you get what you are purchasing. This client spent $800 on a 4TB SSD from an online retailer. It turns out that this SSD is only 512GB with partitions already on it (meaning it's used) and is worth less than $100.

Well, it's that time of year again. This Sunday at 2AM, our clocks go forward 1 hour. Your computer, cell phones, etc.. will do this by themselves. However, the wall, stove, and other analog clocks will need to be manually set forward 1 hour. The upside is that it will stay lighter longer in the evening.!
