Spam attack! Malware! Virus! McAfee (the client doesn't even use McAfee!) and Windows 11 say there are critical errors! ...

Spam attack! Malware! Virus! McAfee (the client doesn't even use McAfee!) and Windows 11 say there are critical errors! Stay calm - look close at the urls in the windows that are open asking you to click to save you. NONE of them lead to McAfee or Microsoft! A client faced this recently. She just shut her laptop off and brought it over here. :)
Now, this one went a little further than just running an antivirus and malware repair software.... It reported as not being infected. :( not cool. So, I reset the system to a restore date from one month ago, and it started clean - I then updated the system and antivirus then re ran a scan - cleaned one malware event - restart and it was good to go! :) Thanks for reading to the end - have you faced this? downstairs, is my server/network room. The bottom case houses my internal network server, and the top case is my internet facing share server. They are both fairly old software, and the bottom one is throwing codes and having random restarts. Not cool.
Soon I will have to decide to repair and upgrade, find a new server, or abandon the idea of having servers all together! :)

In theory good paste lasts a long time. (maybe never needing replacement) Unless your fans are failing or the computer is so plugged with dust bunnies or pet hair etc... that they can't work. The system over heats and the paste breaks down = unable to do its job.
We replaced the paste on the last laptop thru here because the system was most of the way thru a full teardown to get all the debris out. Photos - old paste... and a freshly cleaned heatsink. :)

whether it is a gaming rig or not, dust and lint can build up and sap the effectiveness of your system. At best it slows down, at worst it cooks your systems chips and circuits till they fail. Spring cleaning can help before your system gets caked in debris - so call for me to do it, or buy a can of compressed air and blow out your vents! :)
