Your Microsoft 365 accounts can accept login attempts from anywhere in the world by default.

If your business only operates in Canada, why allow login attempts from everywhere else?

With Conditional Access, you can block sign-ins from countries you don't do business in. Even if someone has the correct password, they won't get in.

It's not foolproof, but it can stop a huge amount of the automated attacks hitting Microsoft 365 accounts every day.

Most cyberattacks aren't sophisticated. They're opportunistic. Reducing the number of places attackers can access your environment from is a simple way to reduce risk.

Everyone's rushing to try the latest AI tools right now, and cybercriminals know it.

We've seen a growing number of fake websites posing as legitimate AI companies. Someone searches for a popular AI app, clicks the first result, downloads the software, and unknowingly installs malware that can steal passwords, browser data, and other sensitive information.

These fake sites often look nearly identical to the real thing, and the link is frequently a paid ad sitting above the legitimate website in search results.

Before downloading any new software:
✅ Go directly to the company's official website
✅ Avoid clicking sponsored ads in search results
✅ If something feels off, don't install it

For businesses, it's also worth establishing which AI tools are approved so employees aren't downloading random applications on their own.

A few extra seconds of verification can prevent a very expensive mistake.

We're moving into a different phase of AI.

For the last couple of years, most people have used AI like a very smart search engine.

Ask a question ➡️ get an answer.

Tools like NotebookLM and Microsoft 365 Copilot are shifting that model.

Instead of relying on information from across the internet, they work from the information your business already trusts:

- Meeting notes
- Emails
- Documents
- Spreadsheets
- Teams chats

That's a big deal because one of the biggest challenges with AI isn't generating answers. It's knowing whether to trust them.

When the source is your own documents, conversations, and meeting transcripts, you can see where the answer came from.

Most businesses we talk to aren't struggling because they lack AI tools. They're struggling because information is scattered across shared drives, inboxes, desktops, and different apps.

Staff spend time searching for files, re-entering information, and working around processes that were never designed to scale.

That's why so many AI projects disappoint.

If your business data is disorganized, AI simply gets access to the same messy information your team is already fighting with.

Before looking at AI, ask:

- Can employees find the information they need quickly?
- Is critical business knowledge stored in one place?

One of the most effective scams right now doesn't hack your computer. It convinces you that it's already been hacked.

A phishing email or malicious link triggers what looks like a serious security incident, complete with warnings, and a phone number to call for help.

The goal is simple: create enough panic that you stop thinking and start reacting.

If a warning tells you to call a number immediately, treat it as a red flag. Legitimate security alerts don't pressure you into contacting random support lines.

The best defense is often slowing down long enough to verify what's really happening.

Microsoft recently acquired Fintool, an AI company that helps finance teams analyze large amounts of information.

The acquisition itself isn't the interesting part.

What stands out is the direction Microsoft continues to move in.

Most people think of AI as a tool for writing emails, creating content, or building presentations faster. But the bigger opportunity is helping people process information.

Finding trends across documents. Pulling insights from reports. Identifying what's important without spending hours digging through data.
