Ok its officially back to school marketing month, judging by the displays near the Walmart checkout stand.
I remember when you did homework by going to a library to look up information in books!!
Kids today have it so easy, they just have to google it from the comfort of their bedroom.
Assuming they have a computer, and they aren't distracted by all the other "more interesting" stuff on the internet.
Chances are they get less homework done unless you install some parental controls on the computer to help keep them focused and free of distractions.

Food for thought, before the next school year begins. If you are not happy with your kids grades last year, maybe its time to try this new approach
Its amazing how much kids are motivated to do better when you hold the power of cutting off their internet access 🙂

How old is your hard drive? If you are asking what is a hard drive then let's go with how old is your computer or laptop?

A hard drive stores all your files and programs that make your computer run. When your hard drive fails , not IF but WHEN, you can replace it with a new blank one but you still need to reload all your files from your old one. You can't do that because your old one is dead.

What's a ghost backup? Its that thing you needed to have done before your hard drive failed. Now you have to reinstall windows and all your programs from scratch, if you can find the software DVDs to do that. Not to mention you have to setup your email configurations and printer configuration and... you get the idea.

I know, lets just be proactive and make that ghost backup today? What do you say? All you need is a copy of ghost and an external hard drive to save your backup to.

Remember, a hard drive is like the tire on your car, eventually it will wear out or you get a flat. Don't be stuck on the side of the road without a spare tire. How long can you wait for a tow truck when you are trying to get something done (yes it always happens at the worst time)

Just like tires are usually good for 80,000 km , most hard drives are warrantied for only 1 year but that don't not include your files.

OK so don't let me say i told you so. But i just did. The ball is in your court. Don't drop it :)

P.s. I'm not trying to scare you , just forewarn. I see this scenario very often and it is completely avoidable with preventive maintenance. Cheers

Tomorrow is the first day of spring. Computers need spring cleaning too. Clean the hardware with compressed air to clean out the dust bunnies, and cleanup the software by backing up all your important files to an external drive for safe keeping.

Here is a very handy link for you do-it-yourself types who loves to spend alllll night trying to remove computer viruses (i used to be one of those). Conduit and Search protect are very nasty beasts and takes ALOT of work to erradicate them...its almost faster to reinstall windows (or recover from a clean snapshot).
