Lithium-ion batteries are increasingly found in the many devices and systems we use daily. With this greater use, there has been an uptick in related fires.

With that in mind, here are some safety tips to follow:
• Do not keep charging the device or device battery after it is fully charged.
• Only use the battery that is designed for the device.
• Put batteries in the device the right way.
• Only use the charging cord that came with the device.
• Do not charge a device under your pillow, on your bed, or on a couch.
• Keep batteries at room temperature when possible. Do not charge them at temperatures below 32°F (0°C) or above 105°F (40°C).
• Store batteries away from anything that can catch fire.

"On Wednesday, Asus router users around the world took to the Internet to report that their devices suddenly froze up for no apparent reason and then, upon rebooting repeatedly, stopped working every few minutes as device memory became exhausted."
Did this affect you? It affected many of our customers!

Asus finally responds after being castigated by users.

Scammers are using the wildfire situation to try to trick Albertans into sharing their personal and banking info.
We will never send emails or texts asking for these details.

The only way to apply for emergency evacuation payments is by going online at Alberta.ca/emergency, calling 310-4455 or in person at an Alberta Supports Centre.

If you receive a suspicious message, do not respond to it or click any links.

It's Emergency Preparedness Week and here's some more information that'll help keep you safe!

Cyber attacks are becoming increasingly common and put many Albertans at risk.
Reduce your cyber risk by making it a habit to update passwords, back up data
and ensure security software is up to date.

Protecting yourself against cyber threats can reduce your risk of an attack.

We have received numerous complaints of the same scam that seems to be circulating around Camrose targeting the elderly.

The scammer gives the name John Karl with phone number 902-526-4558. The scammer is using a common “Grandparent scam,” preying on the emotions of a grandparent that their grandchild is in jail and needs bond money. The scammer is asking for large sums of money and is quite aggressive to the victims. If the scammer asks to meet in person, do not meet and immediately call your local Police.

Please talk to your parents and grandparents to educate them about this scam. If you or someone you know has fallen for the scam, please call your local Police or RCMP to report it.
