We've got some exciting news to share! 🎉 Ironclad TEK has been named a finalist in the Oil, Gas and Energy category of the 2026 MSP Titans of the Industry Awards.

The energy industry has been part of our story for a long time. Our engineers, project teams, service desk, and operations staff have spent years learning what it takes to keep energy companies running, and this nomination belongs to all of them.

Our Director of Technology and Operations, Trond Aarflot, explains why that work matters so much:

Ever gotten an email that just felt a little off? Maybe it was "your boss" asking for a quick favour, or an invoice you don't remember approving. That little pause before you click can stop a lot of trouble on its own.

It's Cybersecurity Awareness Month, so we wanted to share a few easy things that go a long way for small and growing businesses around Calgary.

1) Turn on two-factor authentication wherever you can. It takes two minutes and closes off a lot of trouble before it starts.

2) Actually test your backups. Don't just assume they're working, try restoring a file and see for yourself.

3) If a payment request shows up out of nowhere, pick up the phone. A quick call beats a costly mistake.

4) Keep your software updated. Those little pop-ups asking you to update are more important than they seem. (They reduce your vulnerabilities!)

5) And talk to your team. A five-minute conversation about what to watch for can save a lot of headaches down the road.

A bit of time and attention goes further than a big budget here.

We started thinking about why that is. A hardware refresh, a platform switch, rebuilding how your network handles certain traffic. These aren't things most internal IT teams do every year. Sometimes it's the first time anyone on staff has tackled that exact project.
