Mujib is the Spirit of Bangladesh: The historic 7 March 1971 speech delivered by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Racecourse Ground in Dhaka stands as a monumental moment in the political history of Bangladesh and one of the most remarkable speeches in the history of world politics. In this powerful and visionary address, Bangabandhu articulated the long-suppressed aspirations of the Bengali people and effectively prepared the nation for the struggle for liberation from Pakistani rule. With extraordinary rhetorical skill and political foresight, he provided clear directives for resistance while maintaining strategic restraint. His immortal declaration, “The struggle this time is the struggle for our emancipation; the struggle this time is the struggle for our independence,” ignited the spirit of freedom among millions of Bengalis. Recognizing the exceptional historical, cultural, and documentary significance of this speech, UNESCO included it in the Memory of the World International Register in 2017. Today, the 7 March Speech remains a timeless symbol of inspirational leadership, national unity, and the universal human quest for freedom, justice, and self-determination.

"শ্মশানভুমি আমার দেশ"
আমার চোখে জ্বলে
পূর্বপুরুষের ছায়া,
রক্তের রেখা বেয়ে নামে
তা ইতিহাসের মায়া।
দীপাবলি নেই, শুধুই অন্ধকার,
আলো নয়, কালো ছায়ার কুৎসিত নৃত্য,
শ্মশানের স্তব্ধতা ভেঙে
জ্বালাই আমি দীপ্তি- আলো।
যেখানে দীপ নিভে গেছে,
সেখানে আমি আগুন রাখি,
শিখা জ্বলে ওঠে, তাতে আঁকি
হারিয়ে যাওয়া প্রিয়তমর ছবি ।
ওরা নিয়ে গেছে আলো,
আমরা রেখেছি আগুন,
মরনের মিছিলে বাজে
জীবনের শেষ অনুরণন।
তবু আমি জ্বালাবো দীপ,
শ্মশানের বুকেই রাখবো আগুন,
যতদিন রক্তে বাজবে
প্রতিবাদের দামামা।

"আমি হিমালয় দেখিনি, তবে আমি শেখ মুজিবকে দেখেছি"--ফিদেল কাস্ত্রো
আলজেরিয়ায় ১৯৭৩ সালে অনুষ্ঠিত জোট-নিরপেক্ষ সম্মেলনে কিউবার নেতা ফিদেল কাস্ট্রোর সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেছিলেন বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান।
সে সময় বঙ্গবন্ধু সম্পর্কে ফিদেল কাস্ত্রোর একটি উক্তি আজও বিখ্যাত হয়ে আছে।
বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান সম্পর্কে সে সময় ফিদেল কাস্ত্রো বলেছিলেন, ‘আই হ্যাভ নট সিন দ্য হিমালয়াস। বাট আই হ্যাভ সিন শেখ মুজিব। ইন পারসোনালিটি অ্যান্ড ইন কারেজ, দিস ম্যান ইস দ্য হিমালয়াস। আই হ্যাভ দাজ হ্যাড দি এক্সপেরিয়েন্স অব উইটনেসিং দ্য হিমালয়াস।’
বাংলায় যার অর্থ দাঁড়ায়— ‘আমি হিমালয় দেখিনি, তবে আমি শেখ মুজিবকে দেখেছি। ব্যক্তিত্ব ও সাহসে এই মানুষটি হিমালয়ের সমতুল্য। আর এভাবেই আমি হিমালয় দেখার অভিজ্ঞতা লাভ করেছি।

শহরের কোন একজন লালবদর, লালবদরনী, লালবামাতী, কমরেন্ডী (জন্মসূত্রে রাজাকার) কি কবুল করেছে, তারা প্রতারিত হয়েছে বা তারা ইউনুসশাহীর হত্যা, ধর্ষন, বর্বর নির্যাতনের জন্য নিন্দা প্রকাশ করেছে বা তারা ২৪ পরবর্তী সময়ে তাদের কর্মের জন্য অনুতপ্ত? নাহ, আমি জানিনা বা শুনেনি আপনারা শুনেছেন? তবে কেন টরন্টোর “উপদেষ্টা” সাহেব ও তার কয়েকজন তাবেদার এতো উতলা হয়ে উঠেছেন লালবদরদের প্রায় মুক্তিযোদ্ধার সন্মান দিতে? কেন তারা দেশ বিরোধী বদরদের পূর্নবাসিত করার জন্য দালালী শুরু করেছেন? প্রপ্তিহীন দালালী নাকি প্রপ্তির বস্তা ভরছেন? Cash or Kind? “উপদেষ্টা” পদ আসলেই লোভনীয় পদ কিন্তু নুনুসের চেয়ে লোভী আমাদের উপদেষ্টা। শহরে গত এক বছর যাবত কত কিছুই না ঘটলো? উপদেষ্টা কিন্তু পদত্যাগ করেননি। শুধু নুনুসকে আদর্শ মেনে আদর্শের ছাল পড়ে বুলি কপচাছেন। মরাখেঁকো ভেরীর ও লালবদরদের জন্য ভোট (মাফ) চেয়ে বেড়াচ্ছেন। Under Table-এ কি হচ্ছে? আরেক ফুলের মালা গলায় পড়ে শহরময় ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছেন- কি আশ্চর্য সেলুকাস? আরেক প্রমিত পুরোহিত নিয়মিত পূজা করছেন “ফুলকুমারী” আর লালবদরদের। এই পুরোহিত ও ফুলকুমারীর কল্যানে যারা সত্যবাদী- সংগ্রামী, জুলাই ষড়যন্ত্রের বিরোধে সোচ্চার ছিলেন, আমাদের শক্তি-সাহস জুগিয়েছিলেন প্রথম থেকে, তারা আমাদের থেকে দূরে সরে গেছেন আমাদের দ্বিচারিতার কারনে। উনাকে জিজ্ঞাস করেছিলাম কারন কি? উনি নির্ধিদ্বায় মিথ্যাচার করেছেন। আমি অন্তত এদের মুখ থেকে ৭১, মুক্তিযুদ্ধ, বাংলাদেশ আর মুজিব নিয়ে বক্তৃতা শুনতে চাই না। সংগঠনের মালিকেরা যদি মনে করেন এসব করে সংগঠনের পরিসর বাড়াবেন বা অডিয়েন্স উপচে পড়বে, তা কিন্তু হবে না। যেখানে রাজাকার বা তাদের দালালরা থাকবে আমরা তাদেরকে বা সংগঠনকে বয়কট করবো। আমরা কবিতাস্নাত হতে চাই কিন্তু চাই না রাজাকারস্নাত হতে। আমরা দ্বিচরিত্রের হবো না, আমাদের প্রতারিত করার চেস্টা করো না, মানুষ তোমাদের মত বোকা না। আগামী অনাদিকালের জন্য বাংলাদেশীরা দুই ভাগেই ভাগ থাকবে, বিভেদই সত্য, আমাদের মাঝে রাজাকার-লালবদরদের জায়গা হবে না।
