Did you know that Microsoft 365 includes both desktop apps and web apps?

They often look similar, but they aren't exactly the same.

Desktop Apps
• Installed on your computer
• Usually offer the most features
• Can work offline

Web Apps
• Open in your browser
• Accessible from almost anywhere
• Great for collaboration and quick edits

If you've ever wondered why Word, Excel, or Outlook looked different than a coworker's screen, you may simply have been using a different version of the application.

For many businesses, web apps provide everything they need for everyday tasks and offer a cost-effective way to access documents, spreadsheets, and email from virtually anywhere. Businesses with more advanced requirements may benefit from the additional functionality available in the desktop versions.

Most day-to-day tasks work well in either version, but understanding the difference can save a lot of confusion when following instructions or troubleshooting an issue.

Not sure which option is the best fit for your business? We're always happy to help you find the right balance between features, flexibility, and cost.

Getting older is a strange experience.

One day you're running at full speed.

The next, you're asking people to repeat themselves, holding menus at arm's length, and wondering why your back hurts after sleeping.

We were discussing this in the office and somehow the conversation turned into:

"I'm not that old. I'm at least Windows 3.1."

Which led to the important question:

What piece of technology best represents your current stage of life?

Brand new AI-powered laptop?
Reliable Windows 10 machine that refuses to quit?
Windows 3.1 with a few service packs installed?
Commodore 64?

No judgment here. Some of us are apparently running vintage hardware.

What even ARE cookies?

Website cookies are small bits of data your browser saves to help websites remember things like:

-logins
-shopping carts
-preferences
-sessions

They’re not automatically dangerous, in fact, many websites rely on them to function properly.

But changing cookie settings without understanding what they do can sometimes cause:

-login issues
-websites not loading properly
-saved settings disappearing
-endless “please sign in again” loops

Good rule of thumb:
If you’re unsure what a browser setting does, it’s worth checking before changing it. A little caution can save a lot of frustration later on.

IT tip of the day: humans occasionally need reboots too.

After long days at a computer, a lot of people notice tired eyes, stiff shoulders, or “why am I sitting like this?” posture moments creeping in.

One small habit that can help make the workday more comfortable: Take a quick moment every so often to stand up, stretch, and look away from your screen.

Your computer occasionally needs a restart too.

“My computer is so slow… I think I need a new one.”

We hear this all the time.

Sometimes it’s true. But often… it’s something much simpler.

Over time, computers quietly fill up with:
• Programs running in the background
• Apps you forgot you installed
• Sync tools constantly working behind the scenes

It’s like a junk drawer, you don’t notice it building up until everything feels slow. This week, we cleaned up a system that felt painfully sluggish…

After a quick tune-up, it was back to normal speed. Before replacing your device, it might be worth checking what’s piling up behind the scenes.

Sometimes, it’s not the computer, it just needs a clean-up.

If you’re not sure where to start, we’re always happy to take a look.

You know those days when:

– Your computer is slow
– Programs won’t uninstall
– Passwords aren’t working
– And nothing seems to sync properly

Yeah… those days.

Tech issues rarely happen one at a time. They tend to stack up, and that’s when productivity really takes a hit.

Having someone you can call when things start going wrong (not when everything breaks) makes all the difference.

That’s where we come in.

Common Misconception: “Our data is in the cloud, so it’s fully backed up.”

While platforms like Microsoft 365 provide strong infrastructure and retention features, they don’t always cover scenarios like:

– Accidental deletions
– File overwrites
– Sync-related data loss
– Security incidents (e.g., ransomware)

A dedicated backup solution ensures your business can recover quickly and confidently when something goes wrong.

It’s not redundancy, it’s resilience.

Computers need to breathe too.

All computers and hardware generate heat while they work. That’s why desktops, laptops, servers, and networking equipment all have vents and fans to help move heat away from the system.

If those vents get blocked, by furniture, paperwork, decorations, or even dust the device can start to overheat and struggle to run properly.

Sometimes the fix is as simple as giving the computer a little breathing room.

For more critical equipment, like servers or network racks, proper ventilation, cooling, and even humidity control should be considered to keep everything running reliably.

Quick Tip:
Make sure the vents on your computer or hardware stay clear so air can flow freely. A little airflow can make a big difference.
