Product Schema at Scale: Why Your E-commerce Markup Fails Validation

A 5,000-site audit published in April found 71% of sites emit structured data and only 22% pass Google's Rich Results Test cleanly. Product markup reaches 73% of e-commerce stores, mostly through theme and plugin defaults rather than anyone deciding to implement it.

The five failure patterns behind most of the damage: missing required properties, invalid ISO-8601 dates, wrong schema type for the page, missing image dimensions, and duplicate values. All of them are catchable in a build test.

The post covers what changed in Google's documentation this year, why one wrong variant price can suppress a whole listing, and why the agentic checkout layer is a separate pipeline from the markup on the page.

Most teams treat a zero-downtime database migration as a database question. It is a release-ordering question.

A migration and the code that depends on it ship on two different clocks. If the old application code is still answering requests while the new schema is live, the rollback path is gone before the deploy has finished.

The pattern that holds up is expand and contract:

Add the new column. Write to both. Backfill in batches that can resume. Switch the reads. Drop the old column one release later.

Three details do most of the work: a lock_timeout so a blocked ALTER cannot queue every query behind it, CREATE INDEX CONCURRENTLY for anything large, and a backfill throttled on replica lag instead of a sleep timer.

The new post walks through the Postgres lock queue, MySQL instant DDL, gh-ost versus pt-online-schema-change, and a checklist worth running before any schema change goes near production.

Token prices keep falling. Enterprise AI bills keep climbing anyway.

Gartner projects the cost of inference per agentic workflow will rise more than fivefold through 2028. Gartner's March 2026 analysis also found agentic models burn 5 to 30 times more tokens per task than a standard chatbot, and a Concordia University study put code review at 59.4 percent of an agent's token bill.

Our latest post covers where the tokens actually go, why cutting token count can raise the bill, and the routing, caching, and budget controls that cut cost per successful task.

Sandboxing Code-Executing AI Agents: Isolation Patterns for Enterprise Deployment

Once an agent can run the code it writes, your infrastructure starts executing instructions no human reviewed. Shared-kernel container isolation is not an acceptable default for code you did not write.

We cover the four isolation primitives, how to match each to a workload, and the controls that matter after the boundary: network egress deny-by-default, resource caps, short-lived credentials, and deterministic tool limits outside the model's context.

Ask a hundred enterprise SEO teams where their crawl budget goes and most will describe their site map, not their log file. That is the wrong answer.

Crawl capacity is finite, and in 2026 it is split three ways: search indexation, model training, and live AI retrieval. Cloudflare's network data showed GPTBot requests growing 305 percent year over year, and AI bots now average 4.2 percent of all HTML requests. On a site already running near its crawl limit, that is capacity taken straight from Googlebot.

Our new post walks through reading the server log field by field, why noindex does not stop a crawl, how faceted navigation consumes 35 percent of a typical store's crawl budget, and the four metrics that prove a fix actually worked.

Most enterprise storefronts measure traffic and conversion, then leave the payment path unmeasured. That is where the revenue quietly leaks.

Visa links payment problems to up to 44% of digital abandonment. False declines cost merchants over $231 billion globally in 2026, and most of those declines are recoverable.

Our new post covers the four levers that move authorization rates: network tokenization, smart routing, decline-aware retries, and 3-D Secure exemption strategy.

AI agents are now inside ticketing systems, source repos, and cloud dashboards with permissions that used to require a human account and a manager's approval. OWASP's Agentic Top 10 maps the risks, and most of them trace back to over-privileged machine identities.

Our new post covers the MCP attack surface and an eight-step playbook for securing agents in production.

Microservices stopped being the default in 2026.

A multivocal literature review catalogued four teams that publicly merged services back into a single deployable unit: the Istio control plane, Amazon Prime Video, Segment, and InVision. Amazon reported cutting infrastructure cost by more than 90 percent on its video monitoring service after the move. Survey reporting puts the share of organizations consolidating at least some microservices at roughly 42 percent this year, up from about 23 percent in 2024.

The lesson is narrower than "distribution was a mistake." The benefit of microservices scales with team count, while the cost arrives on day one. A ten-person team running twelve services pays the full price of a distributed system and collects almost none of the autonomy that justifies it.

We broke down what a modular monolith actually is, when microservices still earn their place, and how to consolidate without a rewrite: merge the chattiest service pairs first, then make the module boundaries enforceable in CI so they survive the next reorg.

Platform engineering replaces the "ask the one person who knows" model with a self-service product. Gartner expects 80% of large engineering orgs to run a platform team by 2026, and DORA's 2025 data links platform quality directly to how much value a team gets from AI coding tools.

Our latest post breaks down what an internal developer platform really is, how to measure it, and where most initiatives stall.

Machine identities now outnumber human ones by roughly 45 to 1, and most organizations have no complete inventory of them.

AI agents make it worse. An agent does not log out, it acts on someone else's behalf, and it usually holds more access than it needs. That combination is where agent security incidents start.

Our new post covers where non-human identity risk concentrates and the controls that reduce it.
