“Not only providing the gross and net—everybody has that expectation—but providing value-added with those aforementioned things.” – Richard Tustin

Log scaling is more than a tally sheet. It’s about delivering high-quality, value-added data that mills can rely on to plan production and maximize recovery.

VDTS offers rugged handheld and hands-free voice-controlled systems that make it easy for scalers to collect, validate, and share detailed grading and sorting information—even in tough field conditions.

That means:

“Sorting is a big component of what we do in the Pacific Northwest. Incorporated into that is the grading that goes along with it.” – Richard Tustin, GM, Mountain Western Log Scaling & Grading Bureau

Sorting and grading aren’t just nice-to-have—they’re essential for mills and log buyers to maximize value. At VDTS, we support scaling bureaus and forestry companies with technology that improves consistency, captures detailed grading data, and streamlines decision-making.

Empower your team to sort smarter, plan better, and deliver the right logs for the right products.

Free your hands. Speak your data.
Out in the field, every measurement counts — and every clipboard slows you down. With VDTS, you call the numbers and they're captured. No pencil. No paper. No re-keying back at the truck.
Keep your gloves on. Keep your eyes on the timber. Let your voice do the recording.
