What is good design?

It is much more than a look. It’s a feeling.

I spent the first seven years of my life growing up in Ireland. And it those seven years, I remember playing in grass flocked full of vibrant blue bells. When I last visited Ireland, my now late Granny walked gently beside the river in grass lush with blue bells.

When I wrote this prompt for Blue Bell Librairie I remember these tender moments of youth and one of my final memories of my beautiful Granny.

I wanted to encapsulate whimsy and character. I pictured this store sitting on the grand hill of Cobh between colourful houses. I wanted it to illustrate inspiration and wonder, the feeling you would get as you opened the front door and a bell tinkered to let an eccentric shop owner you’ve arrived. I wanted Blue Bell to sit in between the pages of a book that makes you feel greedy.

I hope you feel a little inspired to create your own Blue Bell Librairie branding. Join me in and let’s let our imagination run away with us.

I put out feelers for Brand Camp businesses you want to see this year. One of them was a bookshop, so I dreamed up Blue Bell Librairie.

I placed Blue Bell in one of my favourite little Irish villages Cobh (pronounced Cove). It’s one of my favourite seaside places and if I ever move to Ireland, this one is on the list.

Join me in creating branding for Blue Bell Librairie. Let your imagination carry you away.

I’ve known Jodi long before I became known as Third Rodeo. Back when hand lettering was a big trend, Someday Art Co was one of the first accounts I followed for inspiration. And when my interests changed, she was one of the few that survived the cull. I’ve always admired Jodi’s authentic nature and the way she’s unapologetically herself. She’s always made me laugh and her talent has always wowed me.

When she approached me for a rebrand it was a no brainer. I’ve been waiting for the moment she decided to fully lean into herself and I was so honoured to be apart of this new chapter.

This collaboration was everything I dreamed of. A true meeting of the minds that came naturally but at the same time pushed me.

Here you are .tellier.art ✨💗

The Anatomy of a Brand. It’s how you tell your brand’s story and maintain authenticity.

It starts with your vision. The vision of your brand considers your past, present and future.
It’s your brand’s driving force, your brand statement and how you hold your brand.

Considers your values. Your values convey the heart of your brand. It’s your mission, your value proposition, and your target audience.

Nurtures your voice. The overall mood of your brand - whether it be nostalgic, luxury or humourous. It’s the character of your brand.

And relays your vision. The exterior of your brand and how the world sees it. It is a the visual reflection of all of the above. The look and feel of your brand.

If you need help gathering your brand’s anatomy, let’s chat ✨ link in bio.

Hi to what might be my favourite Brand Camp 🏔️ Foxwoods Lodge. A make believe winter resort in British Columbia.

For this project we focused on luxury mid-century branding and rounded it out with business cards, a poster and a website.

There’s still lots of time to complete this project.

Tell me what you love most about winter ❄️

About to work with a designer on your website but have no idea what to expect? Or maybe a designer isn’t in your budget yet and you’re DIYing it till you can afford it. Whatever path you’re on, if you’re building a website you should be including these things in it!

Your Brand Statement . It tells the reader what you do and if it’s for them, without having to w**d through paragraphs to figure it out.

Your Offerings. What are your primary services or products? What are you trying to push. Let’s get on the cover, baby.

Testimonials. Help the reader fall in love and build trust with your brand.

A Call to Action. A couple calls to action help lead the reader to booking or buying. Just be careful - too many CTAs can come off as cringey.

I’ll ignoring emails from December 22 to January 8. Taking a much needed break after an extra full season.

I always think I’ll have more time at the end of year to put together things like an end of year wrap, but it never seems to work out for me.

I never take my years for granted. I think every year that I get to experience life while doing what I love, is so incredibly special. Not everyone gets to do what they love for work, in fact - most don’t. On top of my amazing clients I also got to spend a month in Europe with my loving boyfriend, I got to travel and compete with my dog and I became close with friends who really fill my cup. I love 2023, because I think it was the start of a new chapter for me.

But at the same time, it was difficult. As with many of my small business friends, this year felt apprehensive. The economic struggle of the world seemed to teeter on our shoulders. For the first time I had projects being cancelled. I had months without bookings. This year I had doubts and imposter syndrome. I felt tired and burnt out from the stress. That’s something my mind is still warring with. I know many of you have felt that this year, and I hope you can take solace in the fact that it’s not you.

As 2024 comes around, I welcome opportunity. Give me more bucket list projects, let me help my client’s dreams come true and let there be way more dogs.

Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

This poetic, flowy beauty was *chef’s kiss* but our chosen direction is my absolute favourite - and I’m soooo excited to show it off.

But for now - here’s a taste of what could have been.
