"... SD74 will soon be rolling out a new communication tool district-wide, after it was piloted at Lillooet Secondary School last year. APPAZUR can be used by the district, or individual schools, to send quick messages to students and/or caregivers as needed.

"Similar to the Voyent Alert! emergency alert system used by many local governments, APPAZUR allows recipients to receive messages about road closures, upcoming parent/teacher conferences, and more via text, email, or phone call. Mochikas says it shows that there are positive uses for technology.

“This is an example where technology can be a positive communication tool. If parents want us to know that a student will be absent, they can use it to text or contact the school. It allows principals to send out information quickly, and it’s an effective tool where schools can send messages home and caregivers can interact with schools.”

School districts can now record and send voice messages right in their Appazur Dashboard! Why use voice?

- With Appazur's Mass Notification option and parent contact phone numbers from your SIS, you can reach parents who do not have the app. If you currently use SchoolMessenger, you probably know it was acquired by PowerSchool this summer, and now may be a good time to consider an alternative like Appazur.

If your school is anything like the ones we've talked to, there is a lot of excitement around the World Cup this year! The games will run up to December 18, so it's not too late to add World Cup live scores to your Digital Signage*. We've set up a live feed that you can add to a slide, and students can see updates throughout the day. The layout includes flags, city names and game locations, so I'm sure your Geography teachers will be pleased!
