Glengarry Phoenix

Glengarry Phoenix Rising from the ashes of The Glengarry News, hoping to inform the people of Glengarry county.

Just putting this out there again:

The Glengarry Phoenix/The EssDeeGee is offering a three-month subscription package for $47.50 plus HST. If you'd like to subscribe, please comment. We will need at least 125 subscribers to keep it going.

Please note, The Phoenix publishes different content from the Glengarry Times. The Phoenix is all about features and long form journalism while the Times is more about political news, current events, sports, and the arts.

Please share this status with your friends.

Just a quick reminder that The Glengarry Times and The Glengarry Phoenix are two separate publications.

The Times will focus on hard news (stories coming out of our municipal councils, schools, and communities) whereas The Phoenix will be dedicated to feature stories and long-form journalism.

So far, the February issue has about 100 subscribers. If you'd like to be added to the mailing list, please let me know in the comment section.

Hello readers of The Glengarry Phoenix.

This is an exciting time for us. As you know, The Glengarry Times has launched and we are preparing for the second issue, which will be available at the end of this month.

Several of you have asked me if The Glengarry Phoenix will continue. The answer is yes, it will, but it will be a different product. The Glengarry Phoenix will now focus on feature stories, long form journalism, and the odd investigative report.

The Glengarry Times, on the other hand, will focus on more immediate local news (what's going on at North and South Glengarry council, information on the schools, live event coverage, sports, etc...)

Think, if you will, of The Times as your newspaper and The Phoenix as a more localized version of MacLeans.

I hope to print the next edition of The Phoenix sometime in February. The cost of this issue will be $16.90 (which is $14.95 plus the HST amount of $1.95.) There will likely be an online version as well for $12. (Please note that this represents a 25 per cent discount from what The Phoenix charged per issue last year.)

So if you're interested in getting a copy of the new Glengarry Phoenix, please respond with "I'm interested" so I can add you to the spreadsheet. And please share this with your friends.

In the meantime, here is a link to some back issues of The Glengarry Phoenix. All free of charge.

Thank you for your continued patronage.

Enough people have expressed interest in the revamped Glengarry Phoenix, so I am fully committed to publishing another issue in February. It will be priced at $14.95 plus HST, (this represents a 25% decrease from last year's cost.)

Once again, if you're interested, please let me know so I can add you onto the spreadsheet. And please share this with as many people as possible, not only in Glengarry, but also in the United counties of SDG.

And here it is folks, the final issue of the Glengarry Phoenix for 2024. Because of the delays at the post office, I think I’m going to use the depot drop off delivery method again, at least for most of the Phoenixes. I hope to be in touch with you all shortly to let you know where you can pick up your copies. And merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone.

Attention Glengarry Phoenix readers.

We are just going to press with the final edition of the Glengarry Phoenix for 2024. It is my hope that most of you will receive this final issue by Christmas. I will likely hand-deliver many of them myself and use drop off spots as well, as I don’t think the post office will be able to deliver them in a very timely fashion just yet.

Many of you have been asking me if the Phoenix will continue in 2025, especially with the revelation that a new Glengarry newspaper, the Glengarry Times, will launch in January. After careful consideration, I have come to believe there is still a role for the Phoenix, though it will be slightly rebranded as a more local version of Macleans. It’s my hope that it will include long form journalism, more feature stories, and additional bits of writing that might not be suitable for the Times, but would be for a News magazine.

I’m expecting this inaugural new Phoenix will launch in February and I’m going to offer it for only $14.95 ($10 for the online version.) So if you’re interested, please let me know by replying to this status. And please share it with as many of your friends as possible. And would you please accept my best wishes for a happy and prosperous holiday season and all the best in 2025.

Steve
