Our team is responsible for installation and support of products related to home networking, internet, fiber TV, phone, etc. in customer’s homes. As a Telecommunications Technician, your priority will be to provide exceptional customer service, installing and repairing voice and data services (phone, internet, TV) for residential customers. This position will require you to work various shifts, which will include weekends and evenings until 7pm.
Responsibilities
· Splice and test fiber optic cables in all outside plant applications – aerial, burial and underground, on both newly placed and existing cables
· Analyze test results and have the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects
· Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans
· Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fiber optic telecommunication cables
· Climb poles, ladders and a variety of construction equipment to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses
· Clean and maintain tools and equipment
· Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
· Climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
Requirements
· Must have or be able to obtain a white work vehicle with a ladder rack. For Employee will be provided
· Maintain a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract quarterly
· Self-motivated and highly organized to manage workloads with minimal direction
· A reasonable driving abstract provided yearly
· Must be bond-able, able to pass a background check
· Be able to work one evening a week until 7pm
· Have strong commitment to safety
· Ability to climb ladders and not have a fear of heights
· able to lift 50 pounds easily
Previous experience is preferred, however, work experience in these roles (not limited to) have transferable experience: renovation, construction, warehouse, maintenance person, trade apprentice, fire alarm technician, electronics technician, telecommunications technician, installation technician, service technician, field service technician, fibre optics technician, cable technician, internet technician, wifi technician, cabling technician, Wireless Field Operations Specialist, Cellular Technician, LTE Technician, etc.
