WoTech Botswana A committee lead by women which aims to motivate, inspire and equip women in computing with skills to persue 21st century opportunities.

AIM OF WOTECH
• To motivate women’s interest in computing and involved in the industry.
• To engage in activities and projects that aim to improve the working and learning environments for women in computing. OBJECTIVES
• To break the stereotype of computing being a male dominated area. By bridging the gap.
• Promoting women’s interest in the computing industry and professions
• Promoting activiti

es that result in more equal representation of women in Computing.
• Promoting development and implementation of strategies to encourage the entry, development and retention of women in the computing industry.
• Will work to show females of all ages that computing can work to solve real world problems and improve the quality of life for all. By demonstrating the impact that computing can have on lives around the world. VISSION
• To reach gender parity in computing fields
• We believe girls exposed to computer science at a young age will lead to more women working in the technology and engineering fields.
• To be key to the success of women in Computing.
• To be prime facilitators for creating personal relationships, support systems, and networking between women in computing. ACTIVITIES INVOLVED
• Workshops- regular workshops to motivate women by inviting women in the I.T field.
• Motivational talks- regular talks with women and girls about computing
• Tours- visiting different schools around the country educating them about computing areas.
• Games- games that can motivate women to have an interest in computing
• Camping- camping sessions involving activities that a computing oriented
• Fairs (including exhibitions)- conducting fairs and exhibiting ideas
• Competitions- enter and create competitions.

BOTSWANA REPRESENTED AT THE NO CODE CONFERENCE,SAN FRANCISCO

Botswana is well represented at this years No Code Conference currently taking place in San Francisco. The only African speaker at the conference hails from Botswana, and is Cindy Melemo.

A graduate from the University of Sunderland with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Business Computing. She's the CEO of SoftBerry Solutions, a company specializing in software, web, and business development. She's also a CEO of a start-up called Sebaga Africa which exports African products to international markets. She's the founder and president of WoTech (women in technology) Botswana.

She will be speaking on "No Code for Marginalized Communities”. A topic selected to highlight the value of coding in Africa, and her country Botswana. We congratulate Cindy and wish her all the best as she represents Botswana.
