I didn't vote in the last election. I should have. I was a discouraged citizen at that time. I was discouraged because we keep changing administrations but our country remains headed in the wrong direction. The country was not clean, the roads were not maintained, chronic waste was apparent, and nothing in the country seemed to work properly.
The problem is us!
Instead of moving away from politics, I am recommending that you move towards politics. Do not go around supporting a political party without being a member. Join the party and have a voice. We have to democratize these political parties so we choose our leaders. Let's make the leaders responsive to us.
It is easy to get to the point where we think that they do not care about us!
They do. After all they are our friends and family.
Join a political party, any one, it doesn't matter. Your active, vocal participation is what matters.
Don't sell your vote and beyond social niceties, don't accept any favours. If you have to ask for favours from your employees, from your representatives, then this further demonstrates the system is dysfunctioning.
We have a lot of things to fix in this country. We need to make this country useful for Bahamians.
If you are not prepared to fight and die for this country, then maybe you shouldn't have it.
We need to stop letting politics divide us and be productive every day to make this country work.
We are overtaxed and underserved. PLPs and FNMs must resolve to fix this or we won't have anything to compete over. We need to act in our own best interests.
Stop being afraid. We need to stop the crime, stop the littering, do our jobs, and stop using our professions or trades to disenfranchise each other.
We must make it better in The Bahamas for Bahamians.
