This picture shows de values of horizontal displacement calculated by Sigma/w by means of NorSand constitutive model for a hypothetical tailings storage facility upstream raised. With the use of a such advanced model, on which the void ratio and state parameter are variables, it’s possible to verify the changes of stress-state and the possibility of strength loss (liquefation) due to as undrained loading response.
