CASSINI е водещата инициатива на European Commission за подкрепа на предприемачи, стартъпи и малки и средни предприятия в космическата индустрия, с бюджет от 1 милиард евроЕдин от ключовите ѝ елементи са CASSINI Hackathons — хакатони, които се провеждат два пъти годишно едновременно на 10 различни места в Европа под егидата на EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme. През изминалите 10 издания те ангажираха хиляди участници и партньори, допринесоха за създаването на иновативни решения, базирани на космически технологии, и поставиха началото на множество стартъпи.

11-ият CASSINI Hackathon ще се проведе между 24 и 26 април 2026 г. в Австрия, България, Унгария, Италия, Нидерландия, Северна Македония, Норвегия, Полша, Румъния и Испания. Темата тази година — „Space for Water“ (Космос за водата) — е посветена на спешни предизвикателства в ерата на климатичните промени със значимо социално и икономическо въздействие, включително справедлив и ефективен достъп до вода и мониторинг на риска от бедствия. В България тези предизвикателства се проявяват чрез загуби на вода във ВиК сектора, недостиг на вода в отдалечени села, а понякога и в общинските центрове, разрушителни наводнения със сериозни щети, замърсяване на водите в Черно море и други проблеми.

Каним студенти и професионалисти в областта на хидроинженерството, компютърните науки, космическите технологии и бизнеса, които са мотивирани да допринесат за опазването на планетата, да се включат, да сформират екипи и да прекарат един вдъхновяващ уикенд, разработвайки и представяйки иновативни решения, свързани с водата, използвайки данни от наблюдение на Земята и други източници.
Участниците ще се възползват от вдъхновяваща програма с гост-лектори от EnduroSat и Veolia, ментори от водещи компании и университети в областите на Earth Observation, data science, хидроинженерството и изкуствения интелект, достъп до мощни софтуерни платформи и ресурси, отворени сателитни и други данни, експертно жури, ценни награди, добра храна и приятна компания, както и директни връзки с европейската космическа екосистема.
Това е уникална възможност да станете част от динамична международна общност, да оформите и тествате идеите си, да разработите реални решения и да ги валидирате чрез експертна обратна връзка, както и да направите първата си крачка към космическото предприемачество.

CASSINI is the European Commission's flagship initiative to support entrepreneurs, start-ups, and SMEs in the space industry, with a €1 billion budget. One of its key actions is the CASSINI Hackathons — held twice a year simultaneously at 10 locations across the continent under the umbrella of EUSPACE Technologies Pvt. Ltd.. Over the past 10 editions, these hackathons have engaged thousands of participants and partners and helped design various novel space-related solutions and launch numerous start-ups.

The 11th CASSINI Hackathon will take place in Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Spain between 24th and 26th of April 2026. This year’s theme is ‘Space for Water’ will tackle urgent challenges in the era of climate change with major social and economic impact — including equitable and efficient access to water and disaster risk monitoring. In Bulgaria these challenges are echoed by problems of water loss in the utilities sector, lack of water in remote villages, but also in municipality central cities, vehement floods with severe damages, polluted Black sea waters, etc.

Students and professionals in hydro-engineering, computer science, space technologies, and business who are passionate about protecting our planet are invited to join, form teams, and spend an exciting weekend building and pitching innovative water-related solutions using Earth Observation and other data.

Participants will benefit from an inspiring programme featuring keynote speakers from EnduroSat and Veolia, dedicated mentors from leading companies and universities in Earth Observation, data science, hydro-engineering, and AI, access to powerful software platforms and resources, open satellite and other data, an expert jury, valuable prizes, good food and company, and direct connections to the European space ecosystem.
This is a unique opportunity to join a vibrant international community, shape and test your ideas, develop real solutions and have them validated by expert feedback, and take your first step toward becoming a space entrepreneur.

The Renexpo Interhydro is regarded as the European industry meeting place for hydropower. It acts as a hub between Eastern and Western Europe. This is where the experts meet. The trade fair shows what contribution hydropower makes to a safe, sustainable, affordable and climate-neutral energy supply. The trade fair offers a necessary European platform for future-oriented products, projects and services of the clean energy source and creates a unique space for practice-oriented exchange and successful networking.

And Mozaika is contributing to this event by bringing earth observation and AI into the topics of dam monitoring, water resources management and planning, climate change resilience, river preservation and more.

On February 14th 2025 at a special event organized by the English language high school in Russe, the school received its certification as the first zero waste school in Bulgaria. The event featured an interesting agenda showcasing the achievements and the best practices introduced in the school throughout the years to reach the zero waste status. The audience included representatives of 40 schools from the Russe region, that gathered information and inspiration to follow the steps of the English language high school in changing their life habits for the benefit of the nature, climate and society. Mozaika has sponsored the certification of the school, and received a commemorative plate.

It was amazing to discover that the historical building of the English language high school in Russe has been built by catholic congregation Notre Dame de Sion in 1908. This brings two coincidences to mind. Mozaika of Great Contemporary Novels, the predecessor of Mozaika, the Humanizing Technologies Lab, was founded in 1909. Its founder graduated from the Lycee of Notre Dame de Sion in Grenoble, France, in the beginning of the 20ieth century. It was quite touching to discover these coincidences.

In collaboration with Murmuration Mozaika successfully launches a federated integration with the Destination Earth (http://destinationearth.eu) platform of its Flood Simulation component. With it the user can play-out what-if scenarios on a European scale of flood events and obtain feedback about the prospected damages on buildings, roads, forests and upcoming agriculture and the population and thus plan for the needed resources for recovery and damage control.

On October 24, 2024 Mariana Damova presented a paper, entitled “Flood Simulation and Forecasting for Sustainable Planning of Response in Municipalities”, co-authored by the core team Mozaika and the Mair of Suhindol Municipality at the Barcelona Water Conference. This paper tells the story of our participation in DestinE use case UrbanSquare with the dedicated components of flood and resources, along with demonstrating federated integration of ISME-HYDRO, the water resources management solution of Mozaika based on Earth observation and AI, with DestinE platform. This presentation was awarded the Best presentation award by the conference evaluation panel.
