Our September nomination for Inside Ship.cars is Svilen Bonev - Senior Front-end Developer. This is what he told us:

* Give us a brief introduction of yourself:
I’m currently a Front-End Developer/Project Lead at Ship.Cars. I have an engineering background and subjects such as mathematics, data structures and algorithms are a strong side of mine. That’s why I enjoy working on challenging and complex projects.

* What is the best thing about your job?
I like working on new features and getting instant feedback from our customers when we release them. It’s nice to see how something that you and your team developed is being used and is helping others do their job every day.

* What excites you about the future of web development?
We are utilizing for quite a while the architecture of having multiple JavaScript micro frontends. This gives us great flexibility when working on multiple products that are part of Ship.Cars. I believe that this concept will further develop in the future and will become more and more popular.

* What is your favourite project you have had the opportunity to work on, and why?
Carrier TMS is the first project that I initially started with when I joined the company. We’ve added a lot of new features to it since then and thus the product has changed quite a lot. Tackling all the technical challenges that come when developing new things is the most interesting part for me. From working together with the backend people when figuring out the APIs to designing the code architecture on the frontend side, we always try to think in terms of how we can make it so that new functionality can be easily added on top of what we already have in the future.

* What’s your go-to productivity trick while working from home?
When I initially started working from home I tended to work on very late hours in some days. This automatically means starting late the next morning. I find it better for me to set a time when to stop so that I can continue with my tasks the next day with new energy.

Our next guest at .cars is Vladimir Kadurin - Product and Operations Lead. We are lucky to have him on our team.
This is what he told us:

• Give us a brief introduction of yourself.
I am Vlad and I am Chief Product and Operations Officer at Ship.Cars. Outside of work I like to spend time with my daughter and family, watch movies, read books and as a true Ship.Cars-er - read and watch about cars.

• What's your management style?
I try to be as data-oriented as possible. My decisions are based strictly on actual customer feedback and business performance. My measurement of success is when the company and the people in it are growing. All of this is sometimes extremely hard for me as I am very passionate by nature. I believe that a manager should lead by example and that personal and company growth are the top motivators.

• How does the Chief Product Officer maximize the value of the Development Team’s work?
As a CPO I have to pick the most impactful features to build based on our company’s strategy and goals. These decisions should always be based on actual data and customer feedback but also on any potential future changes in our business vertical or even the overall economic landscape that can happen. A perfectly timed product or functionality combined with a great ex*****on by the development team always leads to success. A perfect symbiosis should exist between the business and the development team to create great value for our customers.

• What's something that you did outside your comfort zone that you're glad you did?
I have to go out of my comfort zone on a daily basis because of the extreme dynamics of our business, especially in these volatile economic times. But definitely, the one thing that stands out is actually moving into my current position. I am a developer by trade and have personally developed some of our core products but at some point me and my leaders identified that my role can go out of a single product in our platform and expand over our whole business. This definitely broadened my skills and knowledge exponentially. It was challenging but also gave me a whole different perspective of how a successful company is and should be built.

• What is the best piece of advice would you give to someone who wants to become a developer?
Do it because you like to create new stuff and see how other people enjoy it. Don’t do it for anything else because believe me after years neither the money nor else will keep you motivated to concur new frontiers in your carrier.

.Cars is off to a good start with Doichin Yordanov - Technical Strategy Advisor. Let’s see what he has in store for us.

💬 Brief introduction
Vintage (not old:)) guy being around databases since 1985 (ok, old), I still enjoy building data-centric software, as well as efficient teams.

💬 What's the best environment for you to work in?
Google or MIT, if not present in BG, then Ship.cars :)

💬 Why do you like your team at .cars?
Flat, flexible, rapid, no bulsh*t talk, yet business experienced, thriving in excellent opportunities "the market is there, let's grab it".

💬 What moments, when you're programming, make you think "Wow, I love my job/field so damn much."?
Unfortunately, I have not had enough time to code recently, but generally, I enjoy most when meeting smart yet humble people that can teach me new things, including algorithms, AI, investment, finances, or... cars :)

💬 What's your go-to productivity trick while working from home?
Deadlines in my personal calendar, e.g. take the kid from KG at 17:30, I know I better get it done by then :)
