East has always been a company of more than one physical location, but a unified culture.
Even when we started off as a full-service digital agency, rather than being a matchmaker.
Timo Railo founded East first in Finland, but we always have had our true soul in Varna, the beautiful coastal town of Bulgaria.
For the first 10 years, in the eyes of Finland we were an oddity within the market—IT and digital work was still very much done in Finland, by Finns. But big thanks goes to our clients, many of whom were international organisations themselves, and embraced the ways of working that didn’t start with the “everyone in the same room” tenet.
A lot has happened in 17 years.
Through one merger and one acquisition, we turned from a development company into a matchmaker.
Some of our oldest partner relationships go back to the days when we were still a digital development company. And having that heritage, I hope it keeps us humble in serving both vendors and clients alike.

– Recorded revenue of 1.9 M EUR in 2023
We have been truly blessed with so many talented, bright, dedicated people having contributed to East over the years.
Now under the leadership of our CEO Mari Railo, we are ready to conquer the next year, as East is headed towards full adulthood.
