Our COO and Managing Director for Bulgaria, Yordan Ginev, who also leads AIBEST as its Chairman, was recently invited by Money.bg as a special guest for an in-depth conversation on the state of Bulgaria’s knowledge industry and the impact of artificial intelligence.

As Yordan shared, companies in Bulgaria’s knowledge sector are not just keeping pace, but they are outperforming their regional competitors. “The industry is transforming, and we are moving toward an industry with much higher added value, an industry based on high technologies, digitalization, the adoption of artificial intelligence, changes in business models, changes in pricing models for clients, and at the same time changes in the quality requirements and skills expected of employees," he said. This shift is visible across the sector: while technical skills remain important, long-term success increasingly relies on adaptability, continuous learning, and openness to new ways of working.

Yordan also pointed out that for these positive trends to continue, collaboration between government and business must accelerate, especially in the areas of infrastructure and education. The move towards higher-value services, fueled by digital transformation and AI, requires a workforce that can blend expertise with adaptability. In his words: “In this dynamic environment, some fundamental qualities are becoming increasingly important. Specific skills such as programming in a particular language, or even speaking certain foreign languages, may gradually lose some of their importance and value. On the other hand, the ability to adapt to a changing environment, maintain a commitment to lifelong learning throughout one’s career, and remain open to new developments seem to me to be among the most valuable qualities.”

This transformation is influencing the way companies approach talent. There is a stronger focus on retaining employees and evolving existing roles, rather than placing all efforts on recruitment alone. And at the center of this shift is AI, which Yordan describes as a generator of possibilities, not risks. “Artificial intelligence is creating more opportunities than threats,” he emphasizes.

Bulgaria on Five Oceans is behind us, well, the energy is still in the air. From the opening moments on Saturday to the closing of the doors, our stand drew a crowd: proof that our blend of professionalism, openness and warmth resonates with Bulgaria’s talent.

Throughout the day, we spoke with hundreds of curious minds, shared real stories from our journey, and showed what a collaborative, forward-thinking digital company truly looks like. New connections happened everywhere: at our stand, over quick coffee breaks, on LinkedIn, and directly through our job postings. By day’s end, we gained close to 100 new contacts who now have DIGITALL on their radar, and many others left with a clear sense of who we are and the opportunities we offer.

What made this possible? The spirit, drive, and teamwork of our Talent Acquisition crew: Neli Staykova, Elitsa Kirilova, Marieta Kircheva, and Denislav Boykov, who carried the DIGITALL spirit with energy and authenticity all day. Yesterday, our Sofia office traded keyboards for cameras as the Bulgaria Wants You team joined us to capture the DIGITALL spirit on video. This wouldn't be possible without the support from our colleagues from Talent Acquisition, Elitsa Kirilova and Neli Staykova, who took every challenge behind the scenes.

We’re grateful to everyone who stepped in front of or behind the camera and brought their energy to the shoot.

The IT sector continues to set the pace for high salaries in Bulgaria, largely due to a commitment to transparency in pay and a focus on qualified professionals. In an interview with Bulgaria On Air, our COO and Managing Director for Bulgaria, Yordan Ginev, highlights that the technology sector leads in offering competitive compensation because salary policies are clear, taxes are properly paid, and there is strong demand for expertise.

Drawing on more than 15 years of experience in the IT sector, Yordan notes that although salary growth and new hires have slowed, the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and global economic shifts are increasing demand for highly specialized professionals. The market is now placing greater emphasis on proven experience, raising the bar for new entrants, and making it more challenging for young people to break in.

Yordan further points out that with AI’s rapid advancement, the areas experiencing the fastest growth and greatest personnel shortages are Cyber Security, cloud technologies, and all AI-related roles. While the sector may not be hiring as rapidly as before, targeted demand for qualified talent remains strong in these critical fields.
