If you happen to attend the Vienna High-End show, you may want to pass by the Hifi Deluxe side-event in the Arcotel Kaiserwasser (just a 5 min walk from ACV). There, Audio Note presents the new IZVOR DAC which you hear at the background of this clip while Vincent Belanger goes wild on the cello.

What you hear is incredible realism, truthful tonality and lifelike speed of the sound. Truly special. Also thanks to the Audio Note Meishu Kapellmeister 300B and AN-E fieldcoil speakers.

The IZVOR DAC will be available for listening at Walden High-End later this summer.

The culmination of over 30 years of innovation, the IZVOR is another Audio Note UK first: a handcrafted, discrete DAC using premium custom resistors.

Audio Note started innovating in digital audio in 1993 with the DAC3, which used a transformer to linearise the DAC outputs and had a zero-feedback valve output stage.

The DAC5, in 1996, set a precedent as the world’s first non-oversampling DAC.

Then, between 2002 and 2012, development focused on their now legendary line of CD transports and integrated players.

The IZVOR project, which began in 2014, takes Audio Note’s philosophy further by removing the DAC chip completely. By replacing standard industrial components with premium analogue parts, it overcomes the limitations of digital audio by applying the principles of analogue engineering.
