Wanneer een bouwproject het moment van de eerstesteenlegging bereikt, wordt er meestal gesproken over de toekomst.

Ibens nv besloot die toekomst gewoon te laten zien.

Tijdens de ceremonie op de werf nodigde Innovation Manager Christopher Baute onze minister van Asiel en Migratie Anneleen Van Bossuyt uit om het project te betreden nog vóór het gebouwd is.

Midden op de werf kon zij het toekomstige gebouw in VR verkennen, op ware schaal, terwijl de eerste fysieke steen net werd gelegd.

Zelfs op locaties met weinig of geen klassieke internetinfrastructuur kunnen complexe 3D-projecten meteen naar VR-headsets worden gestreamd.

Geen zware workstations. Geen lokale installaties.

Stap gewoon in je project, waar je ook bent.
Want de toekomst wordt niet alleen op de werf gebouwd.

Keynotespeaker en docent Bert van Thilborgh en zijn studenten van Supply Chain Management & Logistics aan Thomas More Organisatie en Management Mechelen kwamen langs voor een inspirerende uitwisseling over virtual reality, augmented reality en digital twins op het werkveld.

Monday’s networking event — hosted by Hilti BeLux and The Hazard Factory — brought together over 20 construction companies for an evening full of digital inspiration.

Jorden Peeters from Van Laere shared how THF helps bridge technology and education on the job site.

Ibens took the stage with a fantastic talk from Christopher Baute, showcasing their AZ Voorkempen Malle use case — where innovation and people go hand in hand.

And of course, a big shoutout to Thomas Buelens and Lukas De Clerck from Equans for their valuable insights.

It didn’t stop at the stage — attendees experienced firsthand how VR is changing construction for the better.

At Oostende voor Anker, we brought DEME’s vessel Orion to life in VR. Visitors of all ages explored DEME's offshore innovation.

From exploring the marine engineering firsthand to having some fun flying 216m to the top of the crane, people could enjoy four days of immersive experiences at the booth.

Big thanks to the 2nd-year Architecture students from Thomas More Mechelen for visiting VR Base for an inspiring hands-on session with Spectr BIM!
