A week ago, our team traded algorithms for paddles and monitors for bamboo 😉

We built our own raft, we sailed the Dijle.
We laughed, we raced, we picnicked.
And most importantly … we had fun.

At SoundTalks, we care deeply about innovation and animal health, but just as much about the people behind it all. A strong team makes strong solutions.

Every farmer understands the responsibility of safeguarding the health and welfare of their animals. Yet diseases remain a persistent challenge, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) adds another layer of complexity. Reducing antibiotic use without compromising animal health is not just a goal, it’s a necessity.

💡 Our AI-powered technology listens to what your animals can’t tell you. By monitoring respiratory sounds and coughs 24/7, we enable early detection of respiratory diseases in pigs. This means:
✅ Faster, more targeted interventions.✅ Up to 38% reduction in antibiotic use in pig production.✅ Enhanced animal care with user-friendly, data-driven insights.

This proven approach is highlighted in the report “How Prevention Can Reduce the Need for Antibiotics”, developed by HealthforAnimals and the FAO. Together, we’re advancing sustainable farming practices to improve animal welfare while tackling AMR.

🌍 Why this matters? Respiratory diseases don’t just affect productivity, they impact the welfare of your animals. With earlier detection and reduced reliance on antibiotics, we’re helping farmers create healthier environments for their herds.

EuroTier 2024 🤩 Wow, what an experience.

Last week our team, Zhaoyin Cui, Wim Buyens, and Fabian Erusalimsky, had an amazing time at EuroTier in Germany. We connected with so many passionate professionals to talk about SoundTalks, our sound monitoring solution that’s making a real impact on animal health and welfare 🐖

Did you know that back in 2022, SoundTalks received two Gold Awards: one for Innovation and one for Animal Welfare? These awards highlight how early detection of respiratory issues helps farmers act faster, improve animal health, reduce antibiotic use, and create better living conditions for livestock.

Being part of EuroTier, the world’s leading trade fair for animal farming and livestock management, was an incredible reminder of why we do what we do. Sharing ideas, discussing solutions, and connecting with so many driven people was definitely a highlight.

We’re grateful for all the wonderful conversations we had—it’s your enthusiasm that keeps us motivated to innovate, grow, and continue supporting both farmers and animals.

💬 Got questions or ideas?
Let’s connect, we’d love to hear from you.

We are thrilled to share an important milestone in our journey to improve animal health and welfare in modern pig production.

Our AI-powered sound monitoring technology has been recognized in the recent report "How Prevention Can Reduce the Need for Antibiotics" developed by HealthforAnimals and the Food and Agriculture Organization.

Key findings 🔍

1. By analyzing coughs and respiratory sounds 24/7, our technology ensures early detection of respiratory diseases, allowing farmers and veterinarians to intervene swiftly and reduce the need for antibiotics. ➡️ Data from Thailand and the EU shows that the monitoring system has led to a decrease in individual antibiotic treatment and overall use, due to the early and more precise intervention guided by the system. ➡️ Our sound monitoring system has contributed to a 38% reduction in antibiotic use in swine production facilities in Northern Denmark.

2. The data provided by the monitoring tool allows farmers to finely tune and standardise health interventions, while providing simple, low labor-intensive visualisations of collected data.

3. This innovative approach aligns with the FAO - RENOFARM initiative's mission to promote sustainable, antibiotic-responsible practices in livestock production, helping address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) on a global scale.

Why this matters? 🤔
Antibiotic resistance is a growing global concern. Reducing unnecessary antibiotic use in animal farming is crucial for protecting both animal and human health. By equipping farmers with AI-powered, data-driven tools, we contribute to more efficient, healthier, and more sustainable farming practices.

SoundTalks is proud to be at the forefront of digital technologies that not only improve animal welfare but also support the broader goal of achieving responsible antimicrobial stewardship in agriculture. We believe that by working together, we can create a future where every animal has a life worth living.

Our team knows how to have a blast! Last week, we kicked off the day with a hearty breakfast that could fuel a small army – or at least our team. 😜

Then, we ventured into the woods for a supercool adventure. Armed with nothing but our wits (and maybe a raincoat or two), we split into groups and tackled code-breaking challenges. Who knew getting soaked could be so much fun? Spoiler alert: it was. 🤩

Breathing in the fresh forest air, we powered through the rain with smiles and laughter. After successfully cracking codes, we wrapped up the day with a delicious lunch.

All in all, it was a fantastic day of team bonding, nature appreciation, and realizing that sometimes, a little rain is just what you need to make memories.

Here’s to more adventures, more laughs, and maybe a little less rain next time.
