Experio Music Interactive Dancefloor

Experio is a new atmosphere in which the
visitor of an event is responsible for the
musical experience.

Experio is a novel design for audience participation in a dance club. What is innovative is the fact that audience can co-create music together with a professional Dee Jay. This way both parties are on stage, meaning they carry a considerable responsibility in the overall atmosphere. Experio consists of multiple dance floors in a circular setting with a DJ in the middle. The DJ is responsible for

a previously designed repertoire of base beats, with an additional selection of instruments and effects. During an event, the DJ assigns different instruments and effects to the individual dance floors and keeps a controlled environment. Each section allows for one person from the audience to dance in and translate the movement of their feet into a layer of sound. The result is an ever unique musical experience! Experio is een nieuw design dat muzikale deelname uit het publiek mogelijk maakt in dance clubs. Uniek in het design is de het feit dat het publiek samen met een professionele DJ de muziek creëert. Op deze manier staan beide partijen op een muzikaal podium en dragen ze beide een grote verantwoordelijkheid in de algehele atmosfeer. Experio bestaat uit meerdere dansvloeren in een cirkelvormige setting, met een DJ in het midden. De DJ is verantwoordelijk voor een eerder ontworpen repertoire aan basisbeats, met een daarbij horende selectie aan instrumenten en effecten. Tijdens een evenement wijst de DJ de verschillende instrumenten en effecten toe aan de individuele dansvloeren en zorgt voor een gecontroleerde omgeving. Iedere dansvloer wordt bespeeld door één persoon uit het publiek in intervallen van enkele minuten. Door te dansen en met hun voeten de laserstralen te onderbreken voegt iedere individu een extra laag aan muziek of effecten toe aan de basisbeat, resulterend in een immer unieke muzikale ervaring!

Next to these brilliant events, Experio also got accepted to the 14th International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME) at Goldsmiths, University of London!
