**What are intelligent technologies?**

PolySense aims to develop intelligent technologies with a focus on sustainability. But what are these intelligent technologies? Intelligent technologies go further than traditional artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning. These technologies are specifically developed and adapted to the needs of the challenge and can include wide range of computer science topics, including but not limited to simple computer vision techniques, sensor fusion and mathematical models.

According to Merriam-Webster, intelligence is the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations. Now imagine an industrial process being monitored by multiple sensors. The intelligent technology leverages the data collected by these sensors and turns it into valuable information. This way, the intelligent technology is able to learn and understand the process and is capable to adapt to various different situations that might occur during this process. The information learned can then be used to make the process more reliable, sustainable and efficient.

Meet our 2 summer interns!

Last Summer, Lucas Van Dijck and Kilian Janssens joined PolySense for an internship. Lucas Van Dijck worked on a predictive maintenance project and had the chance to interact with the customer to achieve the best solution. Kilian Janssens has set up our complete CI/CD system and made sure that all software infrastructure runs smoothly.

Lucas: "Not only was I given the independence to manage my own projects and talk to the customers, I was also considered a full company member. During my six weeks, I got a real taste of machine learning and data science in an enterprise setting. My main take-away is that solving the actual problem is only a small part of the process. Talking to customers about their needs and explaining complex technical decisions to them is also a major part of working in a company setting."

Kilian: "During my internship I got the chance to be part of the team at PolySense. I got the task of developing a DevOps environment for future employees. This task resulted in exploring a wide variety of branches in development. I could count on the complete team for advice and guidance on this. The teamspirit was amazing. It was a blast to be part of this team and to get the opportunity and responsibility to contribute to a better future of PolySense."

It is time to meet the team behind PolySense! The three founders of PolySense got to know eachother during the development and construction of the first two racecars in UGent Racing. By tackling different challenges and achieving the unthinkable, the founders built a passion of working together and building a team with a shared mission and vision. Without knowing back then, PolySense was born. PolySense will continue this passion of building a multi disciplinary team to design, develop and implement intelligent technologies to achieve more sustainable business processes in innovative companies.
