Throwback to our amazing networking event last Thursday!
Xamarin legend James Montemagno enlightened us with everything that’s new in Xamarin which means: SDK’s, Ecosystem tooling and so much more!

James is currently on a Euro Tour and luckily made some time for us. Needles to say, everyone in the fully packed room was listening carefully like children to a fairytale. 🤩

We listened, we learned, we mingled and talked. What an awesome meet-up, as we say so ourselves 😉

Check out the Bingel-Raket app that we help develop for Uitgeverij VAN IN! They introduced the app to the big audience this week at the first SETT conference; an event about the innovative future of our education.

The app helps pupils practice exercises from their Bingel textbook and provides additional exercises so every child can learn at its own pace. The teacher can monitor and guide all pupils of the class in realtime.

icapps already developed the app for Android and iOS, and thanks to our UWP-developer Wouter Meuwis the app is now also available for Windows 10. This way, the Bingel Raket-app can be used on every operating system! 👍


We’re happy to contribute to an innovative future for our educational system! Great work! 💪

Last week, we made time for some team fun!
We went golfing and discovered some of us actually have a lot of talent.
During the putting contest, we each had to get our golf ball as close to the hole with only one swing. Colleague Maxim won the competition and afterwards we went for a delicious meal!

That yesterday’s team event was very tasty, is the least we can say.

We first went for a visit to brewery Brouwerij Het Anker in Mechelen and by the time our taste buds were almost satisfied, we feasted on the delicious menu of the brewery. 🍽
What a great way to relax after all the hard work we’ve been delivering. 😉

We proudly present DCM Garden: an app with custom made, year-round garden advice. ☘️🌷
DCM was looking for a team to design and develop their app for multiple mobile operation systems so our Xamarin team was the logic choice.
We created a front-end and connected it with the back-end of DCM so all data like weather forecast, soil types, geographics and more are flowing through easily and fast. We even made sure DCM’s web application synchronises with the app, so users can consult their personal garden data at all times, everywhere they want.

Last Tuesday it was the 3rd RMDY Tech Dive!
Also present: our three Xamarin developers sharing their knowledge. 🙌

Emmanuel Van Meerbeeck showed us the best practices of Unit Testing, an important step during development and often not used efficiently. He learned us all about if-else statements, duplicatie testings and wide faking.

Wouter Meuwis introduced everyone to benchmarking in .NET. Why you should use BenchmarkDotNET instead of writing benchmarks yourself? We discovered the answer 😉

Jens Schadron opened our eyes to the wonders of LiteDB, grilled us with some questions and rewarded us with some nifty tips and tricks.

Paint manufacturer and wholesaler BOSS paints presented a brand new order app this month. Our Xamarin developer Filip Heijnemans was the one to get the job done and we’re happy to spread the word 👏🏻

The app provides an instant and easy order platform for all BOSS paints professional painters. This way, the company caters to their rejuvenating and technology minded customers who are used to ordering everything online with only a few clicks.

Next to the BOSS paints order app, we also converted the Advice app: a tool all BOSS paints colour experts use to provide trustworthy and personal advice to private clients. Before, the app was only usable on iOS devices, but by converting it to UWP this app is now available on all devices.

Dr. Who versus Indiana Jones! 🕵️ Yesterday we went escape rooming and while team 1 was lost in space in the year 2466, team 2 went treasure hunting in the Mexican jungle looking for the long lost Maya-jewel. Prepared with a full stomach, we went in for the win!
Thank god for beers afterwards, to elaborate on who had the more difficult room and who were the real winners. But does it really matter in the end? Our team spirit was updated, and our minds sharpened. Ready for round 2! 😎
