New Software Development Kit (SDK) Available for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition

An updated and significantly improved Software Development Kit (SDK) for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition is now available. The update brings the SDK up the baseline of Update 3 that was released in October last year.

The SDK contains everything needed for the development of applications, utilities, and games for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition.

Among many other improvements, this new SDK includes:

* Updated GCC 6 and GCC 8, and GCC 11 has been updated to version 11.5.
* Updated AmigaDOS SDK 54.136, ExecSG SDK 54.32, newlib SDK 53.87, Roadshow SDK 1.15-53.3, AmiSSL SDK 5.27, and the MUI SDK.
* Updated AutoDocs and include files, as well as an updated version of AutoDocViewer 1.5.

As always, the SDK is free and can be downloaded from the download section.

Install AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition easily on PC and Mac

If you are not comfortable using the terminal, it can be a bit tricky to get AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition up and running in the system emulator QEMU. However, more help is now on the way!

QEMU has for some time emulated the PowerPC range of next-generation Amiga computers — AmigaOne (SE/XE/microA1), Pegasos II, and Sam460ex — thereby making it possible to run AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition in an emulated environment. QEMU has just been released in a new version, 11.0, with several updates and fixes for PowerPC.

This weekend, the well-known Amiga developer George Sokianos also released version 2.1.0 of his excellent QEMU frontend, Kyvos. Kyvos makes installing AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition a matter of pointing and clicking. Easy and effective, it will get you up and running in a matter of minutes.

If you need it, you can also purchase an official digital version of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition on George’s site. By doing so, you will support him even further and help AmigaOS on the road to AmigaOS 4.2.

Important note: Hyperion Entertainment does NOT provide support for running AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition on emulation. You can, however, find plenty of help on the Amiga-related forums.
