Update available: 3D-acceleration for Heretic 2 - 68K

You can now enjoy 3D-accelerated graphics in the 68K version of Heretic 2.

The update supports the new minigl.library released for PiStorm, WinUAE, and other Warp3D-compatible systems, available on Aminet. It can even run on original 68K hardware with Warp3D support and RTG.

Registered users can download the update from the download section at our website.

Heretic 2 68K is available from our dealers. It is not available as a digital download.

Heretic II Coming to PiStorm3D

The finishing touches are being made on 3D support for PiStorm-accelerated 68K Amigas. If you have one, you can look forward to an upcoming update to Heretic II that for the first time brings 3D acceleration to the 68K version of this classic.

The update will be available to all registered users of Heretic II. You can still buy Heretic II from one of our many dealers around the world. Heretic II is not available digitally!

Mesa 3D on AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition

A new world of 3D has opened up on AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition!

The long-time and hyper-active Amiga coder kas1e has ported the open-source 3D library Mesa to AmigaOS 4.1.

Mesa is an open-source implementation of OpenGL, OpenGL ES, Vulkan, OpenCL, and more! The port of Mesa to AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition opens up a whole new world of graphical possibilities on AmigaOS, including making it much easier to port more modern games to the platform.

Kas1e’s port is based on Mesa version 26.1.5 from July this year and has already been updated. Grab it while it’s hot on OS4Depot.net.

To quickly demonstrate what Mesa can do on AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition, kas1e has already ported a bunch of demos. Take a look below at one of the below, the Hungarian demo group Conspiracy’s Chaos Theory demo.

The brilliant coder Maijetsro has ported the Xash3D-FWGS Half-Life engine to AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition. The only thing you need is the original data files from the PC version.

Hyperion Entertainment BV and Amiga Corporation reach settlement – all ongoing legal disputes ended

Hyperion Entertainment BV and Amiga Corporation have, after several months of intense negotiations, reached a new settlement agreement that puts an end to the ongoing legal disputes between the parties.

Timothy De Groote, Director of Hyperion Entertainment BV, says in a comment to the agreement:

“We have had the clear goal from the very beginning of our ownership: to bring an end to the ongoing lawsuits that have, for far too long, drained energy and resources from the advancement of AmigaOS. We now look forward to completing the development of AmigaOS 3.3 and AmigaOS 4.2, so that the focus can return to the users and the operating system we all love. Let the fun begin!

New Software Development Kit (SDK) Available for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition

An updated and significantly improved Software Development Kit (SDK) for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition is now available. The update brings the SDK up the baseline of Update 3 that was released in October last year.

The SDK contains everything needed for the development of applications, utilities, and games for AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition.

Among many other improvements, this new SDK includes:

* Updated GCC 6 and GCC 8, and GCC 11 has been updated to version 11.5.
* Updated AmigaDOS SDK 54.136, ExecSG SDK 54.32, newlib SDK 53.87, Roadshow SDK 1.15-53.3, AmiSSL SDK 5.27, and the MUI SDK.
* Updated AutoDocs and include files, as well as an updated version of AutoDocViewer 1.5.

As always, the SDK is free and can be downloaded from the download section.

Install AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition easily on PC and Mac

If you are not comfortable using the terminal, it can be a bit tricky to get AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition up and running in the system emulator QEMU. However, more help is now on the way!

QEMU has for some time emulated the PowerPC range of next-generation Amiga computers — AmigaOne (SE/XE/microA1), Pegasos II, and Sam460ex — thereby making it possible to run AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition in an emulated environment. QEMU has just been released in a new version, 11.0, with several updates and fixes for PowerPC.

This weekend, the well-known Amiga developer George Sokianos also released version 2.1.0 of his excellent QEMU frontend, Kyvos. Kyvos makes installing AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition a matter of pointing and clicking. Easy and effective, it will get you up and running in a matter of minutes.

If you need it, you can also purchase an official digital version of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition on George’s site.
