What airports know about displaying information.

Airports cracked the code on clear, accurate information display in 1956. They figured out that you cannot rely on a person to manually update a sign when the stakes are high.

They removed the human from the update loop entirely.

When a flight is delayed, nobody runs to the gate with a marker. The data changes in the system -> the screen changes instantly. Zero latency.

Yet walk into a corporate lobby or a retail floor today.

You see paper signs taped up or screens playing a loop of a PDF from three weeks ago. You see information that is technically dead. We tolerate a lag in business that airports eliminated sixty years ago because we don't view our internal data as mission-critical.

That gap is expensive.

We are paying smart people to act as human middleware. They sit there moving data from a spreadsheet to a slide deck, over and over again, just to keep the "status" current.

Airports prove that if the data exists, the display should be automatic.
