Crafting Futures explores the vital role of crafts in addressing today's big challenges: sustainability, innovation, inclusion, lifelong learning, and urban transformation. 🛠🌱

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Crafting Futures by developing their website. The initiative is led by an interdisciplinary team of researchers from UAntwerpen, Ku Leuven, KASK, Sint Lucas and Royal Academy of Antwerpen. 🙏 Hoewel Gent2030 niet verder is geraakt in de competitie voor Europese Culturele Hoofdstad, zijn we ontzettend trots dat we een bijdrage mochten leveren via de realisatie van de Gent2030.eu-website.

Een grote dank aan Els Uytterhoeven, Jonas Tavernier, Tonte Chow en de rest van het team van Stad Gent en Cultuur Gent voor het vertrouwen en de fijne samenwerking.

Eindelijk is de nieuwe website van de Vlaamse Bouwmeester live! Met maar liefst 1034 projecten, diverse onderzoeksthema's, trajecten, een omvangrijke mediabibliotheek en nog veel meer.

Deze uitgebreide website biedt architecten, ontwerpers, studenten, docenten, opdrachtgevers en beleidsmakers een schat aan inspiratie en informatie over gerealiseerde projecten, met handige filters op verschillende domeinen, functies en projecttypes.

Daarnaast is ook het Open Oproep-platform, waarmee architecten hun kandidaturen kunnen indienen, vernieuwd.

We zijn ontzettend trots en dankbaar dat we aan projecten van dit kaliber mogen werken. Dit bewijst opnieuw dat kleine teams snel, efficiënt en flexibel kunnen inspelen op de behoeften en dynamiek van een project.🙏💎

Finally visited the LUMA Parc des Arts in Arles! Despite the gloomy, overcast weather and dim lighting, the iconic LUMA Tower stands tall over the city - designed by Frank Gehry in 2021, at age 92. (now he is 95 years old).

Besides the tower, the art complex incorporates and blands nature with former railroad factories. The tower hosts exhibition spaces spread across multiple floors, with a rooftop platform and works by Konstantin Grcic. The outdoor spaces are the creation of Belgian landscape architect Bas Smets.

Yusuhara, a small mountain town in Shikoku Japan is the architecture baby of Kengo Kuma.

As of 2011 there are six Kengo Kuma-designed buildings in Yusuhara: Kumo no Ue no Hotel, Machi no Eki Hotel and Market, Kumo no Ue no Gallery, Kumo no Ue Library, Yusuhara's Town Office and the Welfare facility Yururi.

Each of these structures is characterized by the prominent use of locally sourced Japanese cedar wood for both their interior and exterior construction.

He was inspired by the old theatre, the town’s history and natural surroundings.

p.s Kumo no ueno means above the clouds.
