From the day I started using PhpStorm, I almost forgot about all the other editors.

The reason for this was the powerful language server in PhpStorm, which was not available in any other editor. Even if it was, I would not have gotten that much performance. Being a WordPress developer, my productivity increased a lot at that time.

So now, even though plain text editors are popular, I have to struggle with PHP support. For example, even after installing the PHP Intelephense extension, VS Code is not that fun and slow.

To solve this and almost PHPStorm, a new language server with all the features of the built-in language server is PHPantom.

It is a PHP language server built with Rust. Fast, open source, requires less memory and is supported by all editors. Not only that, it has official support in Claude and OpenCode which is a game changer.

Interestingly, this one has built-in Laravel support. Which is actually a great thing.

PHPantom is new to the market but it is going to be a great thing for PHP developers.

🚀 After shadcn/ui, is Meta's Astryx going to be the new standard?

shadcn/ui is now the first choice for many in frontend development. However, Meta recently made their internally used Astryx open source, and the matter really caught the eye.

Meta claims that they have created 13,000+ apps using Astryx. Now the same tools and design system are open to everyone.

The thing I liked the most 👇

✅ AI Agent-ready — The new project has been built with AI workflow in mind from the beginning.

✅ Not just a Component Library — It comes with a complete Design System, Design Tokens, Guidelines and Best Practices.

✅ Designer and Developer — Both can work following the same Design Language, resulting in more consistent UI and faster development.

I feel that Astryx is not just another UI Component Library; it is an attempt to create a complete Frontend Ecosystem.

If you work with React, Next.js or modern Frontend Development, then Astryx is definitely worth checking out.

What do you think—Can Astryx become a strong competitor to shadcn/ui in the future? 🤔

We used to use Electron to build desktop applications. Electron bundles the entire Chromium with the Bundle, which makes it impossible to reduce the bundle size. Tauri comes to solve this problem. Instead of bundling the entire Chromium, Tauri uses the system WebView, which reduces the bundle size from hundreds of megabytes to just a few kilobytes.

Deno 2.9 release adds the ability to build desktop apps. The technology here is exactly the same as Tauri but in Deno's style.

Now it's easy to build desktop apps with Deno, and at the same time, all the powerful features/APIs of Deno can be used together in a desktop app.

Great stuff!

Vercel charges $20/seat/month.
Netlify charges $20/month.
Heroku killed its free tier entirely.

And if you go over your bandwidth? Surprise bills. Sometimes thousands of dollars.

There is an open-source alternative to all three. For $0.

It is called Coolify. 53,000+ stars on GitHub.

You install it on any server you own. A $5 VPS. A Raspberry Pi. An old laptop. Anything with SSH.

Then you deploy everything:
- Static sites
- Full-stack apps
- Databases
- APIs
- 280+ one-click services (WordPress, Ghost, Plausible, n8n, Supabase, and more)

Here's the wildest part:

It does things the paid platforms charge extra for.

- Free SSL certificates, auto-renewed
- Automatic database backups to S3
- Pull request preview deployments
- Real-time server terminal in your browser
- Push-to-deploy from GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
- Server monitoring with Discord/Telegram/email alerts

No vendor lock-in. All your configs live on your server. If you stop using Coolify, everything still runs.

The $20/month you pay Vercel? That is per seat. A 5-person team pays $100-500/month depending on usage.

With Coolify on a $5 Hetzner VPS, that same team pays $5/month. Total.

Apache-2.0 licensed. Self-hosted. Free forever.

100% Open Source.

France is moving towards digital independence. France is planning to exit the American software, cybersecurity, ecosystem. As part of this, all French government departments will use French-made platforms instead of US online meeting platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or similar US software by 2027.

In this case, platforms like VISIO will get an opportunity. France's own cybersecurity companies will stand up. On the other hand, American companies will lose a large market.

At the same time, France will initially move to open source Linux or its own system, excluding Microsoft's operating system.
