What is mood swings? (1)
The mood changes sudden or mood states are emotional ups and downs. This means that the person experiences several different emotions in a short period of time. These changes can be a symptom, a disease, or a hormonal change. However, these changes are usually accompanied by more psychological, physical, or environmental problems.
A mood swing is a sudden or intense change in mood. The mood swings can lead to more easily troubleshoot problems as an incentive to proceed in a less rigid way.
For example, it is going from experiencing joy to feeling sadness, suddenly and, sometimes, without a clear cause that justifies it.
These changes seem to be very abrupt and tend to interfere with the person's social life, as well as other aspects of their life (work, academic, partner, etc.)
Normally it is attributed to women due to hormonal changes of certain stages but it is not specific for any gender, it can occur in men as well as in women as well as in different ages (children, adolescents, and the elderly).
Testosterone is responsible for mood swings in men and they can manifest in different ways from depression, irritability, remoteness, or apathy. And it can manifest itself for different causes, such as the defeat of a soccer team, work problems, acute stress, etc.
The relationship between estrogen and emotions was investigated 100 years ago, and estrogens have been shown to improve mood. Therefore, it is important to understand the relationship between changes in estrogen levels and mood swings can provide a theoretical basis for improving physical and mental health.
