"𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭: 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬"
It is a heartbreaking sight to see a bustling shopping mall turn into a blazing inferno, causing immense loss of property and even lives. However, as Muslims, we must understand that all calamities are a test from Allah (SWT) and we must handle them with patience and faith.
In Surah Baqarah (2:155-157), Allah (SWT) says, "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided."
This verse teaches us that when faced with a calamity, we should remember that everything belongs to Allah (SWT), and He is the one who gives and takes. We should turn to Him in patience and supplication, seeking comfort and guidance through the difficult times.
Furthermore, it is important to remember that tragedies can also serve as a reminder for us to prepare for the afterlife. In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:249), Allah (SWT) reminds us, "And when Saul went forth with the soldiers, he said, 'Indeed, Allah will be testing you with a river. So whoever drinks from it is not of me, and whoever does not taste it is indeed of me, excepting one who takes [from it] in the hollow of his hand.' But they drank from it, except a [very] few of them. Then when he had crossed it along with those who believed with him, they said, 'There is no power for us today against Goliath and his soldiers.' But those who were certain that they would meet Allah said, 'How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the patient.'"
This verse reminds us that we should always be prepared for the tests that Allah (SWT) sends our way, and that those who are certain of meeting Allah (SWT) are the ones who will remain steadfast in the face of adversity.
In conclusion, while the tragedy at New Market is undoubtedly a devastating event, we should turn to Allah (SWT) in patience and supplication, seeking comfort and guidance through these difficult times. We should also take this as a reminder to prepare for the afterlife and remain steadfast in our faith, regardless of the tests that come our way.
