Microsoft Is Burying Waste to Fight Climate Change — Literally!

In a bold move toward a greener future, Microsoft has partnered with Vaulted Deep in a 12-year deal to inject over 4.9 million metric tons of human and agricultural waste deep underground.

What’s going in the ground?
A potent mix of biosolids, manure, and food waste — turned into a slurry and pumped 5,000 feet below Earth's surface into rock layers.

Why?
To offset the massive carbon emissions from its booming AI operations. Microsoft released 75 million+ metric tons of CO₂ from 2020–2024, and they’re now racing to go carbon negative by 2030 and erase all historic emissions by 2050.

This method, already used for industrial waste, is scalable and uses existing infrastructure — but it’s not without risks, including possible groundwater concerns and monitoring challenges.

Still, it shows one thing: Big Tech is finally getting its hands dirty (literally) for climate action.

Would you support carbon removal using this method?

In the peaceful fields of Normandy, France is testing a game-changing wind power innovation — and it’s nothing like the turbines you know. Meet the Vortex Wind Generator: a bladeless, silent, and low-maintenance device that produces electricity simply by vibrating in the wind!

How does it work? Using vortex shedding, the wind creates pressure shifts around a vertical cylinder, causing it to sway gently. That motion is transformed into clean energy through piezoelectric and magnetic induction systems — no spinning blades, no gears, and absolutely no noise.

⚡ Each unit delivers about 100 watts, perfect for rooftops, cabins, and off-grid living where traditional turbines are too big, noisy, or risky. Plus, with zero bird harm, no lubrication needs, and a longer lifespan, this tech could reshape the future of green energy worldwide.

If France’s pilot program succeeds, microgrid power generation may never be the same again!
