Aiming to democratize the agricultural financing and supply chain of Bangladesh, iFarmer is working to empower local farmers by connecting farm buyers and farmers on our platform. By 2050 world Population will reach 9.1 billion and 70% of the world population will be living in urban space. In Bangladesh, there is an urban population of 30%, which is likely to increase by up to 50% by 2030. That’s
why we need new ways to create scalable and efficient agriculture farming. iFarmer is a digital agriculture platform that focuses on linking farm sponsors with real farmers in order to support agriculture and farming in Bangladesh while promoting inclusive growth in the agricultural ecosystem through technology and financial inclusion. iFarmer is working for developing a system of crowd farming in Bangladesh where the general people and the farmers both get benefited. Agricultural financing is still a ‘rocket science’ in Bangladesh since most farmers do not have the inputs to reach the full harvest potential of their resources because it is very hard for small farmers to access loans from banks and other formal institutions. Also, because farming is cyclical in nature, many times the timeline for agricultural loan applications to financial institutions do not match urgent farming needs, hence crowdsourcing the capital could be one of the viable options for farmers. Individuals/institutions (farm sponsors) can easily sponsor small to medium farms, making funds easily accessible to the farmers. This is exactly what iFarmer, a Bangladeshi crowdsourcing impact Agri-tech start-up is doing. Vision, Mission, Objectives
