কুইক অফিস বাদ দিচ্ছে গুগল
সহজে স্মার্টফোন কিংবা ট্যাবলেটে গুগল ডক, গুগল শিট এবং স্লাইডসহ যে ধরনের কাজ রয়েছে, সেগুলো করতে গুগল ‘কুইক অফিস’ নামে একটি অ্যাপ চালু করেছিল। এর সাহায্যে চাইলে গুগল ড্রাইভের গুগল ডক, শিট এবং স্লাইডভিত্তিক কাজ ছাড়াও নতুন করে অফিসের কাজ করার উপযোগী এসব সফটওয়্যার ব্যবহার করা যেত। অ্যাপটি অ্যান্ড্রয়েড ও আইওএস ব্যবহারকারীদের মধ্যে বেশ জনপ্রিয়তাও পায়। তবে সম্প্রতি গুগল জানিয়েছে, অ্যাপ স্টোর থেকে এ অ্যাপটি সরিয়ে ফেলা হবে। কারণ হিসেবে জানা গেছে, কুইক অফিসের সাহায্যে যেসব সুবিধা পাওয়া যেত, সেগুলো এখন সরাসরি গুগল ড্রাইভ ব্যবহার করেই পাওয়া যাবে। আর নতুন ব্যবহারকারীদের গুগল ড্রাইভ অ্যাপটি ইনস্টল করে সহজে ব্যবহার করতে যুক্ত হয়েছে নতুন সুবিধা। গুগল অ্যাপসের আনুষ্ঠানিক ব্লগে জানানো হয়, কুইক অফিসের সব সুবিধা গুগল ড্রাইভেই এখন পাবেন ব্যবহারকারীরা। এ জন্যই কুইক অফিস অ্যাপ সব অ্যাপ স্টোর থেকে সরিয়ে ফেলা হবে। তবে ব্যবহারকারীরা আগের মতোই সব সেবা পাবেন।
২০১২ সালে কুইক অফিসকে অধিগ্রহণ করে গুগল। মূলত গুগল অ্যাপস সুবিধাগুলোকে আইওএস অপারেটিং সিস্টেম-চালিত আইফোন কিংবা আইপ্যাডে ব্যবহার করার সুবিধা দিতেই এ অ্যাপটি চালু করা হয়। শুরুতে শুধু যাঁরা ‘গুগল অ্যাপস ফর বিজনেস’ সেবা গ্রহণ করতেন, তাঁরাই এটি ব্যবহারের সুযোগ পেয়েছিলেন। পরবর্তীকালে গত বছর এ সুবিধাটি সব অ্যান্ড্রয়েড, আইফোন ও আইপ্যাড ব্যবহারকারীদের জন্য উন্মুক্ত করে দেওয়া হয়। ২০১৩ সালে অ্যাপলের একই রকম আইওয়ার্ক অ্যাপস চালুর কিছুদিন পরেই গুগল কুইক অফিস অ্যাপটি চালু করে। —গুগল অ্যাপস ব্লগ অবলম্বনে কাজী আলম
