A `.png` file isn’t always an image.

I found malware that created a `.png` file inside the WordPress `/uploads/` directory. Despite the image extension, it contained PHP code designed to silently create a new administrator account.

Another fake PNG was being loaded through injected theme code.

This is why WordPress malware cleanup should never rely only on filenames or extensions. You have to inspect what the files actually do.

A simple customer comment led to a useful new feature.
