Scientific Discovery by LLM without Understanding

Amazing achievement by one of the latest LLMs, reportedly contributing to solving aspects of the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem. What fascinates me most, however, is a different question:Is the model aware of what it has accomplished? Does it actually understand the significance of its own result? If the answer is no, then what fundamentally distinguishes such an AI agent from an extremely sophisticated calculator?...

Quantum Entanglement: Enabler or Constraint of Quantum Computing?

Hyperscalers are investing heavily in Quantum Computing, and recent announcements suggest that breakthroughs may bring large-scale adoption closer than previously expected. However, the scientific foundations behind this technology remain complex and, in many ways, not yet fully understood, leaving significant questions within the computing community. One of the key phenomena underpinning Quantum Computing is Quantum Entanglement, the idea that two particles can remain strongly correlated regardless of the distance between them....

Turing Test in Chinese Room: Are Intelligent Machines Really Thinking?

When we speak about artificial intelligence today, the term intelligence often sounds more certain than the reality behind it. Modern systems such as OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Anthropic Claude demonstrate impressive capabilities in language, reasoning, and pattern generation. Yet an important philosophical question remains unresolved: Are these systems truly intelligent, or are they only highly sophisticated imitators? Turing’s Two Visions…...

From Vibe Coding to Agentic Engineering: Evolution or Rebranding?

Just about a year has passed since the term “Vibe Coding” began circulating widely in the software development community. Today, however, many already consider the concept outdated, as new developments are being introduced under a different label: Agentic Coding or Agentic Engineering. The term Vibe Coding was popularized by Andrej Karpathy and referred to a development approach where programmers rely heavily on large language models (LLMs) to assist with coding tasks....

Eighty Years After ENIAC: The Next Frontier of HPC

Today marks the 80th anniversary of ENIAC, launched in February 1946, the first general-purpose computer. This 30 ton beast was nearly 1,000 times faster than its rival of that time. Today’s premium smartphones are roughly 1.000.000.000 (one billion) times faster than ENIAC.The striking truth is that, despite the availability of such immense computing power even for ordinary people, humanity struggles with computational limitations even more than in the mid of 20th century....

The Best Technology is one you don’t Notice. Time to stop talking about AI and let it Working.

The Best Technology is one you don't Notice. Time to stop talking about AI and let it Working. Gartner Hype Cycle. The way both large and small companies talk about AI has noticeably changed compared to just two years ago and there is a good reason for that. Historically, every major technology arrives surrounded by intense hype. Over time, this excitement settles as technical experts gain a deeper understanding of the technology and business leaders begin to assess its real, practical value....

Memory Shortages as a New Driver for Software Engineering and Optimization

If you can earn same without investing to expanding production, why not to use that opportunity. The global shortage of memory chips has become a defining challenge of the current computing landscape. Paradoxically, this situation creates a win–win scenario for memory vendors and hyperscalers: limited access to on-premise computing hardware drives greater reliance on cloud services, where resources can be pooled and monetized more efficiently....
