Almost done.
Busy day. Polished the body, fitted hardware, wiring, pickups and drilled the pilot holes for mounting the neck. Waiting on delivery of a 14mm auger to rebate the neck mount ferrules and a set of Sadowsky flat wounds.

Initially against my better judgment because it was a brand new and beautiful guitar I fitted a battery box as requested by the customer. Slowly and very carefully was the answer but the result is satisfactory.

Busy days work. Neck pocket cut, a difficult job considering the hardness and unpredictability of the Burl top.
Mock up of bridge placement after careful measurements and checking of string spacing complete. So many hours work going into this one.
Next week I need to carefully begin the placement and routing for the EMG PJ pickups and control cavity.
Then begins the hours of finish sanding and application of the clear finish.

More progress on the WestOz Jarrah Bass. All finish sanding completed. First two coats of TruOil finish applied to body and neck/headstock.
The grain is starting to pop.

It’s finished. Assembly completed, setup and intonation done, plugged in and tested. 😃
My experiment with a passive neck pickup and an active bridge pickup switched neck, bridge or both took some working through but with the addition of a little impeadance matching circuit it’s successful.
Still a little volume difference, lower from the neck but the "Boost" section of my pedal board makes up for that and the rich tone I am getting from the combined output is worth all the head scratching and work packing all the wiring and electronics into a small space. Her name is Thundercloud.

Shaping finished. Just the control cavity and wiring passages to do now.
Really liking the way it’s bringing out the grain in this piece of Jarrah.
Partnering with the flamed Maple neck.
Might give the neck and headstock a touch of Jarrah stain.

Progress on the WestOz Jazz bass.
Routing of the front of the solid Jarrah body complete. Neck fitted and aligned.
Neck collar cut and finished.
I have a pair of genuine Fender pickups left over from a conversion I did a while back. Will route the rear control pocket and cover rebate next week and the finish shaping the arm and belly cutaways.
Waiting on delivery of new hardware. Going to try a new and interesting supplier for hardware. Have read good reviews. We will see when they arrive. ☺️

This week’s progress with the Active/Passive Bass experiment. Still working on the wiring and electronics but not far away now before we see if my ideas are worthwhile.

The evolution continues. Basic paint job done. As usual the will be some trimming and touch ups. Lots of work before it’s ready for gloss coat.
I’m liking the colour scheme. Will have black hardware to match the pickups.

New beginnings. The beginning of what will become a modified Thunderbird style Bass. One passive pickup, one EMG active pickup switched either or both. Babicz full contact 3 point mount bridge.
Will keep updating progress as the concept develops.

New strings and setup and intonation and the beaten up Ibanez refurbishment is complete.
