Today the Clipsal Cortex app received a prestigious Good Design Australia Award Gold Accolade in the Digital Design category in recognition for outstanding and .

We would like to thank each and every one of our Cortex customers who have helped shape the look and feel of the Cortex app through their continued feedback. Our ethos is and will always be to help empower customers to make better energy choices by reducing their cognitive load around the home.

The Good Design Awards Jury commented, “Does the app answer the most important questions: how self-sufficient is my house, with solar? How much am I saving? What is using the most energy in my home? And the answer is yes, yes and yes! Sensible dashboard with essential information, well-organised, easy-to-understand information, not to mention constantly updated display of readings. This demystifies and educates, updates and informs really well. Well done.”

At CocoaHeads Sydney, in February and March, Tom gave a two part presentation on aligning views in SwiftUI. Part two showed how to align views that are not in the same stack, by using GeometryReader and PreferenceKey.

It is part of our "Build an App like Lego, using SwiftUI" approach.

The unedited video of the CocoaHeads meetup is available on YouTube. The talk starts at 33:10 into the video:

Learn to build an iPhone app by assembling blocks, like Lego, with no coding experience. You just need to know how to use a Mac to edit text, drag and drop. You might be a designer, product owner or a developer in a different field. Or perhaps you just have a great idea for an app that you'd like to try to prototype.

This new tutorial series shows you how to build a mobile app, using the latest Apple technologies like SwiftUI. It starts off with the basics like how to launch Xcode, but progresses quickly to build the scenes in an app, without getting bogged down in programming theory. The tutorial assembles views using visual tools like component libraries, rather than memorised code. You will learn Xcode, SwiftUI, principles of user interface design and navigation. Each tutorial takes about 10 minutes.
