I had the honour of letterpress printing invitations for my friends Gavin and Tash. The talented bride Tash created the artwork including the hand lettering and illustrations featuring their dog, Hermione. Printed on duplexed Ball & Doggett GF Smith Colorplan Pristine White and Pistachio.

Our five-week Intermediate Workshop finished last week. Here’s a post of some of what the participants got up to over the sessions. Loved seeing everyone’s different approaches and their projects. We even had a play with UV ink!

Type High zine is now officially available online and in-store! Thank you to everyone who has been encouraging and wanted a copy. Details in profile link.

Type High zine! I finally created and letterpress printed a zine and it includes a poster. Thank you to Marijke Xerox Days Zine Market for encouraging me to just simply give zine making a go. It took me a while to get over my fear of “what if people don’t like it”, and just went for it. This zine is a combo of hand-drawn illustrations, polymer plates, metal type with Jessica Spring Daredevil Furniture, and EVA craft foam. Printed with kiss impression using fluoro magenta and blue grey inks, on Spicers Australia 160gsm Pro Design. Anyone interested in a copy? I might pop copies of it in our online shop.

Type High Day celebrations continued into the next day for a casual print hang with mates Phil Gambrill Dominique Coiffait James Bryans Geoff Moor Matt Tilbury , Chris, and Phil B. Some typesetting and printing was completed, as well as catching up on life, geeking over type, and having cake and nibbles. Love this letterpress community!

Happy Type High Day! Did you know: Australian Type High is 0.918 inches (approx 23.3mm)? I had fun typesetting with Jessica Spring Daredevil Furniture. And I had a lovely visit from Matt of Matt Tilbury, who motorbiked 4,000 kms from Sydney to Perth. How did you celebrate Type High Day?

Had a weekend of our Wood Type Poster and Intro to Letterpress workshops. I love seeing everyone interact with movable type and discover the joy of typesetting and creating a print.

Over the past five weeks, we have been trying new printing techniques, equipment, and experimenting in our Intermediate Letterpress workshop. Here are some highlights (when I remembered to press record).

The aftermath from diecutting duplexed stock. Featuring Ball & Doggett Colorplan in Pistachio and Pristine White. People have told me I should be doing something with the diecut papers, but I haven’t yet found a project for them. I’m curious, let me know how would you use papers with a cut out not quite in the middle of the page?

Pantone 551 on the press. I’ve been printing with many colourful inks recently for various client projects. This ink colour looked great on the press this afternoon. Do you have a favourite ink colour on the press?
