Five years in and Maricar, owner of Zoie Cafรฉ right on Scarborough Beach, still hasn't looked for another POS system. Even after being approached plenty of times to switch, she's stuck with Triniteq. Why? Real support from real people, not a chatbot, every time she needs it.

This is what Australian-made, Australian-supported actually looks like.

One week to go! On 14 September, Triniteq's Shaun Munro joins NAB's Tara Tubman and Suzanne Casey to unpack what the RBA's card surcharge ban actually means for Australian venues ahead of the 1 October deadline.

This isn't a sales pitch. It's a straight conversation between a major bank and a local POS provider on how operators can get their pricing compliant without the guesswork.

If you're still working through what changes, this is worth an hour of your time.

Four days at Fine Food Australia, and two topics came up more than any other: the card surcharging ban starting 1 October and 'Free' POS plans.

Operators are working through what the card surcharging ban means for their pricing, their POS setup, and their margins, and rightly so. It's a big shift for the industry.

The other conversation we kept having - 'Free' POS plans. A few operators mentioned being offered no-cost systems from other providers, then asked us to explain why we charge a software subcription and for hardware.

Easy answer: those 'free' plans are usually tied to a payment processor, and the transaction fees add up fast, especially as sales grow. You pay off your hardware in year one, then keep paying for it over and over again.

A flat monthly rate and paying for your hardware up front means you know exactly what you're paying, no matter how big a month you have.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the stand this week. If the surcharge ban is raising questions for your venue, give us a call.

Fine Food Australia always delivers. Days of walking the floor at MCEC, talking to operators about what's actually keeping them up at night, and watching where the industry's attention is heading next.

Here's a quick walk through the show, ending up at Stand S18 where the Triniteq team is spending the next few days deep in conversation with venue operators from cafes to multi-site groups.

Good expos aren't about the stands. They're about the conversations you have in front of them. Thanks to everyone who stopped by yesterday and today, we'll be following up soon.

One week to go! Fine Food Australia Expo kicks off Monday 31 August at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), and we'll be on Stand S18 for the full four days.

It's shaping up to be a big one for hospitality. With the RBA's card surcharge ban landing 1 October 2026, a lot of venues are rethinking how their payment setup works, and whether they're locked into one processor or free to choose.

That's exactly where we come in. PowerEPOS is built to work with whichever payment processor suits your business, so you're never stuck if pricing or service changes.

Come find us at Stand S18 if you want to talk through what the surcharge changes mean for your venue, or just see the platform in action. We'll have the team there all week, from independent cafรฉs through to multi-site groups.

See you in Melbourne!

Quick question for venue owners: how many hours a month does someone on your team spend chasing account balances or fixing a spreadsheet that doesn't add up?

Triniteq's new Accounts Manager module takes that off your plate. Set up house accounts for corporate clients, members, staff or regulars, charge accounts through your existing PowerEPOS POS system. Charges sync in real time, discounts apply automatically, and invoicing happens without anyone building a spreadsheet at month end.

Account holders get a digital membership card in their phone wallet, no plastic to print or replace, plus a member portal to check their balance any time. Less admin for your team, more control for you, and more flexibility for the people you're serving.

Our phones have been so much busier this month, and it's not because of the weather. Enquiries about payment processor flexibility have picked up noticeably over the past few weeks.

It makes sense. With surcharging ending 1 October, venues are being forced to look properly at their payment processing costs for the first time in a while.

When their POS provider and their payment processor are the same company, there's no real negotiating room.

That's not a dig at any one provider, it's just how a lot of all-in-one systems are built. The payments and the POS are sold as one package, so you take the rate you're given.

The venues reaching out to us aren't necessarily unhappy with their current system. They're just realising that having the option to switch processors to get a better deal, without touching their POS, is worth more than they thought.

If you haven't checked what you'd be paying under a processor-independent setup, this is a great time to find out.
