Sony Group Corp has agreed to sell a 51 percent stake in its home entertainment TV business to TCL Electronics Holdings Ltd.

This move gives TCL majority control of televisions that will still carry the Sony and Bravia names worldwide.

The joint venture is scheduled to begin operations in April 2027, pending regulatory approvals.

Sony says it is exiting a low margin business as Japanese companies continue retreating from hardware manufacturing.

Future Bravia TVs will use TCL display technology combined with Sony image and audio processing.

For many fans, this marks the end of an era for Japanese made premium televisions.

Japan is slowly surrendering another iconic industry to China while keeping only the logo.

There has been increased solar activity over the last few days, with two Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) emitted that are being directed towards Earth.

In this picture, you can see one of the solar flares that occurred yesterday.

What is a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME)?
CMEs are large and sudden clouds of high energy plasma that are expelled from the Sun, often associated with a solar flare, that overcome the pull of the Sun's gravitational field and interact with the Earth's magnetic field.

These particles can collide with the gases in our atmosphere to bring a show of lights in our skies at night – the aurora.

G4 geomagnetic storm conditions are forecast on Wednesday, with two CMEs forecast to reach Earth within close proximity.

If forecast conditions eventuate, aurora sightings may be possible at unusually low latitudes, including dark sky locations near Sydney or Perth.

To view the auroras, you ideally need a dark night with little cloud cover and an unobstructed view to our south.

The phrase “computer bug” traces back to a literal insect found in an early computing machine.

In 1947, while working on the Harvard Mark II at IBM, engineers discovered that a moth had gotten trapped in one of the computer’s relays, leading to a malfunction.

Grace Hopper, a pioneering figure in computer science, recorded the event by taping the moth into the project log and noting it as the “first actual case of a bug being found.” Although the word “bug” had been used in engineering contexts prior to this, this marked the first time it was associated with computer issues.

Plan and speed changes to Starlink users

SpaceX's Starlink is imposing a severe speed cap for customers on the Priority plan that can throttle their internet speeds down to 1Mbps.

The company updated Starlink.com and sent out emails about the changes, which include removing access to “Unlimited, Standard Data.” Instead, SpaceX is instituting a hard cap once a Priority user exceeds their monthly data allotment. The satellite internet service will then reduce download speeds to 1Mbps or less for downloads and 0.5Mbps or less for uploads

The Priority plan debuted in 2023 as a way for customers to receive the fastest speeds at a consistent rate in exchange for a higher price. For example, a US user could pay $140 per month for 40GB of priority data. But once the priority data was used up, the customer could still receive relatively fast broadband through , but at slower “standard” speeds.

In addition to the speed cap, has also changed pricing for the Priority plans, mainly increasing them by $40 or $150. SpaceX didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The company is marketing the Priority plan to business customers, who usually have higher budgets.
