There’s another hole in the wall!
Uralla Tip staff have opened up another hole in the 24-hour recycling drop off point so now there is a spot for household batteries.
This has pushed the e-waste opening one step to the right.
But don’t be confused. All e-waste and household batteries can be dropped off at ANY time for free (except car batteries and TVs).
Why should you put these items here? Because they mustn’t go in any wheelie bin and end up in landfill. Lithium ion batteries especially are known to cause fires at a landfill site. This happened recently at the Uralla tip and took several days to extinguish.
Batteries left at the tip are collected and recycled by B-cycle. See website bcycle.com.au for more information.
