Hours at the wheel. Glazing, firing, the ones that cracked, the ones that came out perfect. And the only way to buy them is catching you at a market or sliding into your DMs?

I’m going to need that to change.

People find makers online every day, often late at night when they’re scrolling and ready to buy. If there’s no shop to land on, that sale just goes somewhere else.

A proper website gives your work a home that’s open whenever someone falls for it.

“It’s fine. My market stall pays the bills.”
“Market sales are enough for my creative business.”
“I don’t need a website, people buy at the markets.”

Three rained-out markets later...

If any of those sound familiar, you’re not alone. But relying on one sales channel that needs good weather is a lot of pressure for a small business. An online shop keeps sales coming in when the markets can’t.

Comment SHOP and I’ll send you the templates made for makers.

No more 5am gazebo setups. No more praying for sunshine. My shop opens itself now.

If you’re still relying on market days to make your sales, an online shop gives you somewhere to sell the other six days of the week (rain, hail or sunshine).

Every market morning looks a bit like this. Alarm at 4:30. Stock in tubs. Float counted. EFTPOS charged (hopefully). Then 20 minutes hunting for the one thing that’s always missing.

And that’s before you’ve set up the gazebo, wrestled the weights on and smiled at your first customer.

Markets are a lot of work for one day of sales. That’s not a reason to stop doing them, but it is a good reason to have somewhere else selling for you the other six days.

An online shop doesn’t need packing. No float, no tablecloth, no frantic search for the keys. Your products are just there, ready for whoever finds them, whenever they find them.

My Squarespace templates are made for makers, by a maker. I know what it takes to get your work in front of people, and I’ve set them up so the shop side is ready to go from day one.

Have a look at babylion.com.au or send me a DM. Your market mornings can stay chaotic. Your income doesn’t have to be.

Rain on market day used to mean a lost weekend. Now it’s a quiet one at home, with the order notifications doing the work.

That’s the bit people don’t expect when they move online. Your shop doesn’t need you standing behind a table to make a sale. Someone in Perth can buy your candles at 9pm on a Tuesday. A regular who missed the last three markets can grab what they wanted without waiting for the next one.

You still get the fun of the stall when the weather plays nice. You just stop relying on it.

My Squarespace templates are set up for makers selling products, so the shop side is ready to go. Pop in your photos, write a little about each piece, and you’ve got somewhere to sell that never gets called off.

Have a look at babylion.com.au or send me a DM and I’ll help you figure out which one suits your products.

Third Saturday this month the market’s been called off. The tubs are still in the boot, the float’s still in the tin, and the bills don’t care about the weather.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not doing anything wrong. You’ve just got one shopfront, and it only opens when the sky says so.

Here’s what an online shop changes:

Your stock sells on wet weekends.
People who love your work can find you between markets.
The sale doesn’t depend on whether someone happened to walk past your table.

Keep the stall. The chats, the regulars, the joy of seeing someone pick up your work in person. Just stop letting it be the only way money comes in.

My Squarespace templates are built for makers who want a proper shop without the tech headache. Add your products, set your prices, and the next cancelled market is a day off instead of a lost week.

Have a look at babylion.com.au or send me a DM. Leave the techy stuff to me.

Rain on market day. You know the feeling.

You’ve spent the week making stock, packed the car the night before, checked the radar at 5am... and it’s bucketing down. Half your regulars stay home. The other half are huddled under the coffee van.

I’m a maker too (silk painting is my thing), so I get it. Markets are brilliant for meeting your people in person. They just shouldn’t be your only way to sell.

A website keeps your shop open when the weather won’t cooperate. The customer who bought earrings from you in July can find you again in October. The one who never made it to the market can still buy the thing.

You don’t have to give up your stall. Just give yourself a second shopfront that doesn’t care what the forecast says.

My Squarespace templates are made for makers, by a maker. They’re set up for selling products, so you can add your photos and prices and open up shop without touching a line of code.

Have a look at babylion.com.au or send me a DM if you’ve got questions. Too easy.
